i have a 97 tsi awd with a 1g 6 bolt block in it. i have a new big 16g and FMIC that i'm getting ready to put in it, but i'm not sure if i need this elusive "2g install kit" for 2g cars. i cannot find pictures of what's included in this kit and because of my mix 'n' match car, i don't know if i need it.

1g cars came with the 14B turbo which uses a J pipe like the 16g. So the answer is if you only did the 6 bolt swap and are still running the T25 with the Garrett compressor side then yes you need the kit because of the J pipe.

what kinda responce was that? that's like sayin a garrett can just drop right in without a new manifold, as long as u can weld on a new flange on the manifold, weld on an elbow to the compressor housing, and get the fittings for the oil feed and return line. but anyway, ya just see what turbo is on there right now, if its a t25 then u need some sorta kit, if its a 14b then u are good.

What? Are you kidding me? No one was talking about Garretts.

This is what you need to install the turbine:

-Metal Gasket for the exhaust mani
-Banjo bolts off a 14b
-oil feed line
-And if you have the J pipe, just use it then.

I dont think ME612 has ever seen what I was referring to. No one was talking about a garrett, cool guy.
