I installed my profec e-01 the other day and am having a hell of a time getting rid of the spike. I do have a huge leak between the throttle body and intercooler pipe. at idle i run between 8.5 and 9 in/hg. could this huge vacuum leak be enough to slow down the response i am getting with the e-01?

I have the e-01 mounted where the stock bcs was, and the lines are as short as possible. any idea how to get rid of this?

also the spikes are anywhere from .4 psi to 1.5psi. I know it doesnt seem like much but the boost controller will not fully program itself until it gets rid of the spike.

its always funny when people try modding thier car when they know something is wrong with it.

my advice get car running in tip top STOCK shape and then begin modding.

i didnt know it had a vacuum leak, my old boost guage was shot and i put the e-01 in as a combo boost guage/boost controller. that is how i found the vacuum leak.

oh ok I hope I didnt come off sounding like an ass but form behind a key board that easy to do.

its really funny when people post this kind of stuff on the syty board because they get torn apart in like 10 minutes by everybody.

anyways good luck with your search for the fix.

sounds retarded but you used all new vaccum lines and zip tied em on and made sure you didnt bump anything loose right?

what do youmean it spikes exactly? i think i have the same problem with my gst. Under pretty hard acceleration it bogs off and cuts back a little i dont know what the problem is, but its killing me. Is this what you are talking about?

when he is talking about the boost spiking he means that he has it set at like 15 psi and it spikes to like 19 psi for a second and goes back down.

Ok I see thanks a lot, so what do you think my problem is, I also have the check engine light on! Uhhh it hurts seeing that light man.

bout the engine light, just do what homer simpson does and put a piece of electrical tape over it :). Nah take it to autozone and have them test it for you for free.

or just get a datalogger and pull the code yourself, id say its practically a requirement when you're trying to get performance from your car.

Should i just go out and buy a palm pilot and i guess the software with it?Is a data logger something you install on your computer at home, but the palm pilot hooks up to the car somewhere? Help me out here.

datalogger software is usually installed on a laptop computer or a palm pilot. I myself use a pocketlogger setup, which installs on a palm pilot. You just connect the palm pilot to the diagnostic port on the car via the supplied cable.

What does this software tell you about the car once you have it hooked up to the port? Ad how much does this who setup cost besides getting the palm pilot? (b/c i already have one, does it matter what kind i have though)

Can moniter RPM, knock, timing, o2 voltage, injector PW/DC, air volume, air temp, airflow, throttle pos, coolant temp, battery volt, barometer, ISC, accel enrich, o2 trims, high/med/low fuel trims. Plus you can clear and read check engine lights, test solenoids etc etc etc...

You can use any palm with an OS above 3.0 and uses a serial cable linkup.

A vacuum leak between the IC pipe and the throttle body will not cause the vacuum in the manifold to decrease. Look elsewhere.

The only leak that would cause spike, is a leak in the actual line to the wastegate.

Maybe the EBC is set up wrong. This is why I like manual boost controllers.

a manual boost controller is more prone to spiking than a properly set up EBC. All MBCs will spike, more so under higher boost levels.
