What to ask when buying a 14B

I found a guy selling a 14B for $50 he says it need a rebuild. I'm just going to send it to FFWD Connections and have them port it and put it back together. Is there any specific questions i should as him about the turbo?

Does anybody have a pic of a 14B? Thanks.
 
it probably has shaft play and the wheels could be damaged ..but other than that, i dunno. I can get pictures of my 14b after i'm done porting it
 
so if it has that then it's not even worth it to buy it when you can get a better one for 100 - 150 right. I've also talked to a guy who has one in my area who said he ported it to 7cm. How can i check to see if it's really ported and done right? Also how can i check for shaft play and wheel spin? Are there any other visual checks i should make. All help is truly apprisiated. Thanks.
 
ya, juss watch on dsmtrader.com, they always got 14b's for 100 bux or less. Got min for 75 bux from a friend who got a 20g for his 1g, and i jus shuved 75 bux in his face and he shuved his old 14b turbo in mine:)

2GUARD-14b comes out of a 1G, its what they came from the factory with. Flows like 405cfm at 15psi or sumthin i think.

For fuel support i don't really need anything. But I'm gonna do the fuel pump rewire though. But i don't know what's next after the 14B. I was thinking of getting 550 injectors but then i won't have any $$ for a AFC. Think about a 1G throttle body and intake mani. maybe. Any advice on what mods to do next from anybody would be appriciated.
 
i'd say if you are only going to be running the 14b, a rewire and maybe a fuel pump will be needed. But the afc is better off for the tuning part of it, so i'd suggest getting an AFC over the 550's
