i have a buddy who wants to do this. exactly what is required to put this motor together the right way. which ecu can be used, trannie, the whole deal. i know about the head setup but not sure about the rest.


it sgonna go into a 92 6-bolt awd. its a early 92. anyone have any expreience doing this.
 
Stock ECU, stock tranny. Just get the 2.4L block and crank. Then you need any 4g63 6 bolt rods (aftermarket or oem). Then get custom pistons for it from magnusmotorsports.com
Make sure you get a 6 bolt 2.4L, not a 7 bolt.
It actually fairly easy. The custom pistons are what make it all possible.

Also keep in mind that the 2.4L block has ~6mm more deck height. This means your oil drain line on your turbo will most likely need to be extended somehow and you might not clear a strut tower bar anymore. some brands fit, some dont.
 
arn't the pistons, nothing more than 60 over of the 4g63 dohc if your not overboring the block then up from there if overbored. . and isnt the extra deck height made up for by the crank not the pistons? if you are getting the g4cs 2.4 block the rods are the same rods in the 4g63 big rods so they should do.

you want either the g64b or the g4cs block try to stay away from the rwd one's they have a larger bell housing

where as you are looking for
(121/2" bellhousing)
 
i know a little about this and the stroker pistons have the wrist pin moved down. i forget the exact messurement but i will get it. :thumb:
 
alitte confused does he want to know about the 2.4 or the 2.0/2.4 stroker? im assuming he ment the 2.4 with the 2.0dohc head rather than the 2.0 with 2.4 crank and stroker pistons.
 
kinda both.

he wants to build a 4.4 hybris, 2.4 lower, 2.0 upper end. i wanted him to build a 2.3 stroker but he wanted to use the bottom end froma 2.4L. he didnt want to have to do all that to the block and such and wanted to just use the 2,4 lower and turbo it with a 2.0 head

hope that made some kind of sense.



what has to be done to the block such as piston wise and all that. i know the 2 holes or so have to be welded sut on the 2.4 block to accept the 2.0 head. after that i have no idea.
 
hey i am lookin into the 4g63 6 bolt stroker to a 2.3 now because i bought a set of je pistons off ebay and have found out they are for a stroker motor. They are JE 30 over 9:1's. I am wondering do i just get a crank for a mighty max and I know I use 4g63 rods. But do i shave the cylinder walls to accept the extra rod travel or will the rod not hit the bottom of the cylinder wall?

i beleive there is 2 coolant holes in the 64 block that have to be welded shut for the 2.0 head to match up. after that im clueless.
 
2.0 Stroker has to have block and maybe main girdle clearenced.A 2.4 6bolt needs a few holes drilled in deck to match 63 head.<-I dont think its an absolute "must do" but I did it to be on the safe side.You have to tap the knock sensor boss aswell.Other than that it all bolts up.

This pertains to 6 bolt only as I have no idea on a 7 bolt.

I should measure the valve reliefs on my 2.0 j&e's to compare to the wisecos in the 2.4.Seeing how everything else is the same I would figure the those to be the same but who knows.

Need 4g64 dohc cam pulleys(belt aswell),theyre 3.5 degrees off(half tooth) from 63's I think.On the bell housing part-as I was shown,all the front drive 2.4's were the 12 1/2 size.
