CAM duration and lift

not sure if this is the right forum but anyway.....

i have a set of evo 8 cams at my disposal and im wondering what the difference in lift and duration between the stock evo 8 cam and the stock 99 gst cam is.

i know they fit because they put hks 272 eclipse cams in the evo8, i just want to know if the 2 hours of work will result in any performance gain whatsoever.

(aside from the pimp factor of having hollow cams )

i looked around and could only find the specs on the evo 5 and 6 cams over at evolutionm.net

any insight would be appreciated

(yes i searched...all i found was threads about guys with evo exhaust manifolds who have hks cams)

Not sure totally about this, but since the motor in the EVO 8 is 180 degrees flipped, how would the cams work in an eclipse? Are you sure the HKS 272 cams used in EVO's arent specifically made for the EVO?

It wouldn't matter if the engine was upside down the cams are still contained inside the same 4g63 valve train.

right off the top of my head I think the EVO 5 and 6 cams have a little more lift and duration than a 1G turbo cam something like .369 I/.351 E and duration is 220 I/ 215 E ,but that is if i am not mistaken.

i know the 1g turbo cams are bigger than my 2g cams, and based on the evo 5 and 6 cams it makes me want to try it even more.

i just need to buy a valve cover gasket before i open it up and try it out

Sorry read the tread wrong thought you wanted to know the specs, personally I don't think you would see alot of improvment over the factory cams other than maybe alittle more RPM and a little more top end but not much.
