My ECU died, now what???

Okay i have been assembling a 1st gen AWD. Once i got it all together it would do goofy things and not run right. I put a FWD ecu in it and it ran fine. So i would be led to belive my ecu is dead.

I am thinking of just getting a stock one but also i am considering stand alone. My question is do i need a working ecu to use stand alone?? I mean all my ecu does now is shut down the fuel injection relay after about 20 seconds of running (you can hear/feel the relay click). Had the ecu been working i would have gone with a piggyback because i plan on using this as a street car and i don't plan on putting a monster turbo in it. (thinking about a big 16g like my last car). Any help or suggestions??

Also what is the difference between a FWD ecu and a AWD ecu?? Does the AWD have a lock up solenoid or does it shut down at high speeds?? What??

Stand-alone systems do not require the factory ECU...thus the name Stand-Alone.

Okay so no tech guru knows the answer to the question?? What does the awd ecu do that the fwd doesn't???

i was wanting to know what the diff. is between a AWD ECU and a FWD ECU also> since i swapped mine too. I read the ECU pinouts and what they do, and i cant find anything that the ECU controls that would make a difference, so Im pretty sure there is no difference, even though TMO says the gearing may be slightly different, which I dont see how the ECU controls the gearing as long as they are both mannys or both autos.
