180F Thermo Stock!?

I just purchased 180F thermo which I am planning to install pretty soon. I have read and was told that the stock one is 195F.

Well I was flipping through my owners manual to find out what weight tranny oil I need, and I came across Engine Specifications.

it says,

Controlled by-pass thermostat

420A - 4g64 - 4g63
195F (90.5C) - 180F (82C) - 180F (82)

Did I just buy the same thermo?

i am rebuilding a 93 turbo mtotr and my thermostat was broken and it said it was a 195. I also bought a 180. I'm guessing you are in the same boat as i and bought the slightly lower thermo to try and help keep temps down.

maybe because yours is a 1gen

ill definitly see what it reads on mine when I remove it.

mine was a 180. now I have a 170 in there.
