Greddy EGT tap search

Im installing the 52mm Greddy EGT gauge and could not find the exact tap for the exhaust manifold. I went to home depot and the guy there said they didnt have one.

Where did you guys get your tap and what kind is it??

Sears has a better selection or if you know someone who has a master kit.

When I installed one we drilled the hole a little bigger that the fitting and weld it in.

I like welding all my egt probe fitting.


Make sure you put up in the manifold.

yeah, preferably in the number one cylinder runner is a good place to tap as I've heared it runs hotter/leaner...

The number one cylinder is where you should tap it. I just installed the same gauge yesterday. I went everywhere to find a tap, and finally found it at NAPA auto parts. The size is a 9mmx1.0. Make sure you get that size...I started with a 9mmx0.75 and messed stuff up. Good luck!

Hey thanks Candela, I think Ill go there then. Now if I can just get off my exhaust manifold. I already took off 9 or 10 bolts but there are two left that are a real socket breaker. I even tried my impact air tools and still couldnt get them off. I know that you can try to tap with the exhaust manifold on with the car running but I would prefer to take it off anyway.

ooo be careful....you might endup stripping those, which happens to a lot of people. I would just do it with the car running. Its easier when hot and there really is no chance threads will get in ther. Thats how i did mine...

Well maybe you are right, its just that it took me a couple of hours just to take those 10 bolts off. Its depressing if it was for nothing. Lets see what the 8 ball says....

what does this tap look like exactly, I have the same gauge and though it came with everything need.
i'm looking for that ignition line also, my alarm also have orange wires so i'm not sure which one I'm looking at

orange wire is for the light.
When you turn you light on the light for the gauge turns on too.

A tap look kinda like a drill bit.

It make the treads so you can thread in the sensor.
Which is usually not included in a Kit.

For a Greddy Gauge I think it's an 1/8 inch 27 tread tap go to any hardware store on home depot they will know what your yalking about.

that 1/8'' NPT (national pipe thread, i think that's it. the guy told me but i can't remeber) is the hardest damn size to find. home depot, advance, autozone, pep boys, napa, scottys, and lowes didn't have it. i finally went to a little hole in the wall tool shop and i got it. i have yet to install it. i'm going to do it tommorow. i will see how it goes. they guy told me to start out with a smaller bit and go bigger until you get to about the size of the tap and then tap it.
