Removed nostrils DO cool better.

A long time ago I removed the nostrils on my Talon to allow more air in. However as you can see there is still a plastic shield behind them blocking the new air from the radiator...

It wasn't until the other day that I finally removed the plastic "barrier". Now the air has a straight, un-interrupted shot to the radiator.

Since I added the turbo my temp gauge has always read hotter than before. The needle would read a little bit past the 1/2 way mark on the gauge and would read even hotter on spirited drives.

Now that the plastic barrier is removed my needle reads 1/2 way again and the needle never leaves that spot. I can run as hard as I want and the needle stays at the 1/2 way mark without moving.

I'll get a good pic of how it looks now later on today so you can see just how straight of a shot the air now has to the radiator. :)

Anyway, just thought I'd share because I didn't expect to see a difference, but I did so I'm happy. :)

Watch out for debris! Cool idea [/pun]

Im glad you posted this, because i was thinking about donig this the other day. Only difference is on my car that brace is metal not plastic.

Just wait until you install a FMIC and see how much plastic you get to remove. I would just remove it all anyways, since you SHOULD have a FMIC on your upgrade list of things to get anyways. That way when it comes time you will have less work to do :D
