JE pistons

Hey Fellow DSMERS

I got a quick question for the wisemen is it worth buy je pistons
What is the pros and cons about buying them.
Im asking because im about to buy them with eagle rods

Some people are going to tell you that JE's slap. Well, they do if you dont set the clearances up properly. By properly, I mean do not follow what JE suggests. Set them up tighter than JE specs. JE's are good pistons, not my first choice, but good none the less. Make sure your engine builder knows what is is doing and doesnt just follow the JE tech suggestions. Those specs are meant as starting points.

Don Polk just finished up a Eagle/JE 2.3L stroker for one of our project cars. No slap, no noise, no nothing. It purrs like a kitten.

Yes, I know that I am not a wiseman, but find someone else on this board who has a 2.4L with 156mm rods in their car. You wont.

so how much should i tighten it to. What specs did your friend go by and i didn't mean only wisemen i guess meant someone who knows their sh1t.

Put them .0045 in the hole. Make sure that whoever hones your block lets it cool down between each cylinder. If they don't it will throw off the clearance not only from each cylinder, but top to bottom.

That is why most people have slap....Bad machine work.

does the .0045 apply to all JE forged psitons? like in a 420a for instance...
