Exhaust question for you wise DSMers

ok i have a GST and running the GReddy SP exhaust. I've never dyno'd so i really dont know where i'm at as far as hp or tq. but i was thinking of switching the muffler section to the Apexi N1. Would this be a bad idea? I can get the universal apexi turbo muffler for about $250 or so and have it put on, would this affect my car as far as hp loss or anything like this?

do you all think this would be ok?!?

If both mufflers are straight through design, then they should yield very similar (if not same) HP/TQ results, nothing to worry about...are you doing if for looks/sound?

actually i kind of am. I know i'm thinking like a damn newb... but i kinda wanna make a switch, but dont feel like spending another $600 or so on a new system. got other mods to blow my money on. i just dont want to put on this new muffler... and see a loss in power.

well if it was me i woulda just bought the apex to start with if i was just gonna switch anyway
i say keep the greddy cause its already bad a$$ and froma performancd standpoint there is no reason to switch.
but hey if oyu have 250 bucks to throw around then go right ahead and feel free to throw some my way!!

Just make a 90 degree bend and have the muffler dump behind the drivers door. You 2G fwd guys have the most screwed up exhaust routing because of the suspension.
Bolt the stock muffler on the back and never get pulled over again

well i would use the money he gives me for mine towards the purchase of the new one. heh nobody has money to throw away.....

Since the Apexi is actually a 3" & the greddy is a bit over 2.5".. I think that you'd definately gain from teh N1. You best bet would be to sell the whole exhaust & purchase the whole apexi N1.. the greddy isn't even 3" & has all those extra resonators.

I'm with Ken on this...

It's a known fact that the SP has a couple restrictions in it that are
thought to take the diameter down to less than stock. I'd say switch
to the Apexi < proven performance > and go dyno.

By the way, I think that Road Race has a decent write-up on the SP.
