how much would a good 1st gen engine that is built to my needs cost me, it would just have the 14b with some upgraded parts in the engine like rods, pistons, cams all that good stuff. :D

To do the job the right way? It will probably run you about 5-6K to swap a turbo engine into a non-turbo car. To do it the ghetto DSM'er way, who knows. I can't answer that question because I know no other way than the right way to do it. Remember, it doesn't take as long or cost as much (or run as well) if you don't do it right. Why not invest some of your 'pimping' time to do some reasearch, and actually get a clue of what you are getting yourself into?

I am doing the same thing man. KILL THE 1.8L!
My only help was that I got my engine out of a totalled car for 800 bucks. See if you can do the same, then build it however you like

pimpthatride,

Whoa killer!!! I didn't mean for you to have to go get a tissue. ;) I just don't want to blow smoke up your a$$ and make you think that what you are trying to accomplish can be done inexpensively. I honestly recommend selling your car, and buying a turbo model. It will save you a lot of money in the long run. IF you want to build a motor, I suggest building a motor on a stand to negate any downtime of your car. What is your goal? Your question is really kind of vague, and tough to answer. If you are really serious, and not just posting on a forum just because everyone can and it's free, then I will seriously help you out. I may be sarcastic, but I can also be helpful. Let me know what you are looking for, and I'll see what I can do to help.

Regards,

Listen to Aslan. I also suggest selling your car and buying a turbo model. With all the money you put into it, you could have bought yourself another car. In my opinion it isn't worth it. Could run you anywhere from 5,000-8,000 dollars. Now sit back and take a while and think about it. Is it really worth putting lets say, 6500 (average) into a 1990 plymouth laser? I know I sure wouldn't. You can get a nice 2G turbo for that amount of money, or a 1G and some mods.. IMO it isn't worth it, and I really think that is what Aslan was trying to get at. Just gotta sit back and read his posts for what they are, he knows his stuff.

ive been lookin around for about uh 3 months now for a new car turboand i found 1 and i was going to buy and Rs and it was sold out from underneath me. i was just seeing if it would be not that expensive if i could do a engine swap but it is so im going to keep lookin. Sorry Aslan. But yea im going to keep my 1.8 and drive it in the winter for a car then drive my new car in the summer, thanks for the info and i was not mad i was just wondering about stuff. Its all good.
