after receiving, mounting, and installing my o2 sensor voltmeter, i like any car enthusiast took the car out for a spin. i've been tuning now going only on egt's, so i figured this would be an eye opener. 17psi the whole time on my big16g, stock fuel system, and propane injection.
wow, im pig ####in rich. 1.02 all the way through the upper rpm range in 3rd gear, 900 degree celsius egts, and im fuel cutting. my guess is that i was running rich enough that all my unburnt fuel was combusting in the exhaust mani.
so i down my pane. 0.98 all the way through the upper rpm range in 3rd gear, 920 degree celsius egts, and im still fuel cutting. well, the egts say im running leaner, but what the #### im gonna turn it down more.
so i down my pane. 0.90 all the way through the upper rpm range in 3rd gear, 900 degree celsius egts, and im still fuel cutting, but a little worse now. and the o2 sensor shows its merit; the egts went down as i went a little leaner...now i'm too lean though, so i bump it a little bit to pull 0.95 or so, a tad on the rich side but safe. im out of road though, so i just head back home.
the car feels a veritable shitload faster now; i can only wonder how much boost i can safely run, but i want to see knock / timing advance before going balls out.
anyways, the questions:
1. what should i tune for? i know its different for every car, but just as a guideline what should i aim for to stay safe?
2. should i be worried about my egts going past 930c now that i know the engine has enough fuel? a reason could be my kevlar header wrap i put on the mani; still, i dont want to melt the turbine wheel or somesuch.
3. when i go to the track and use c16, do i still tune for the same o2's? higher, lower?
4. im fuel cutting even when i was holding 1.02v in the upper rpm range. is my ecu stupid and i should get a tmo chip or something similar to get rid of that shit? or does it know something i dont, and 1.02v with 900 celsius egts is unsafe.
thanky
