Ok im thinking about gettign an ijen intake for my talon, also i would liek to get a better BOV, the vents out inot the air... Well this would mean getting the itake without the BOV inlet, and i read some where that if you remove this return, the car will get a odd signal form the MAS, is this true, and can i have the factory BOV vent to the open while im savign for the ne BOV? Im sure someone has done this before?

I highly recommend against venting to the atmosphere. This has been deeply discussed many times before, but venting to the atmosphere may sound good, but hurts the performance of your car. You will run very rich in between shifts and the car will stutter when you get back on the gas.

Simply said, the car expects the extra air to be dump back into the intake so extra fuel is added. Also the extra rush of air helps to spool the turbo.

Hmm, i see what your sayiging, so even with a fule controler, it would be better to recurculat? And besides i am in now way cappble of affordign a good fuel controler, so i guess ill jsut go with the injen intake with the port, By the way what woudl you (or anyone) recomemd as a BOV the recurculates teh air, i guess it woudl have a port or some thign?

The majority of the people will probably say go with the Greddy Type S BOV and I would agree.

I am personally partial to the TurboXS RBV-34....sounds good, adjustable, leaks a little, but nothing a little sealant can't fix;) It might be a little cheaper too:confused:

personlly I think most people with 2Gs usually buy a 1G BOV as their first BOV upgrade. they're cheap, too...usually around 40 - 80 bucks.

I agree with crazyjoe.. got a 1g bov for my 99gsx.. cost me $50 and does the job perfectly.. no leaking.. may not look as pretty as some of the others, but it gets the job done and is easier on your wallet

hmm, i think i will go with the turbo xs bov... well By pass valve. I read a recent article in import tuner, power pages, where the tricked out a 2 g gst, the price was right and the parts would work for my talon. I think i might copy their build up exactly:

Injen Intake
Thermal Research 3" Cat Back
Bucher Racing 2.5" Down Pipe (might upgrade to the 3"er)
Turbo Xs BOV kit

What do you think?

Don't wast your money on a Greddy in my opinion...a friend has one and they are hard to adjust for one thing, and to, his broke. If you ask people who have alot of knowledge, alot of them will tell you that a 1g BOV is actually fairly good..and you can crush it to hold more boost...but for applications like 18lbs or so, its works great....you just don't get the bling bling factor. I am thinking of polishing mine LOL

1g bov's are the best bang for the buck....
they're hella cheap, can be recirculated, sound great, and hold a high level psi (higher when crushed but you'll see that on all the other posts)
Go for a 1g and you'll love the results...

This is funny...If some one asks about venting every one replies.
If someone asks about which hole does what and no one cares.

1g bov's are the best bang for the buck...but i have a hks ssqv...one of hte best sounds in my opinion...if u want a really loud bov get a turboxs rfl....

however, isn't it possible to vent to the atmosphere safely as long as u have a HKS VPC, so u can adjust ur air/fuel mixture? anyone?

Vent it if you want. It will run rich... big deal.

I'm AT and I can vent it without stalling or any noticable signs.

Get a greddy type S. Don't bother with the 1g, unless you want to get it crushed. It will be at least an 8 year old BOV, as opposed to an aftermarket make.

Oh BTW... USE THE SEARCH BUTTON. This has been discussed #@%#@%#@%#@%ing everywhere on the internet.

Incase you havent read the rules of this site.. the #1 rule on this site is NEVER EVER EVER tels omeone to use the search button.. you want to have that attitude then i suggest you take it somewhere else.. if you want to help the person then answer the question being asked if not then just pass on, no need to tell them to search if they dont want to..

WORD Oh sweet glorry...
I cant belive this all, i mean, the dsm crowd are like good peoples, i never realized how differnt tuner crowds are untill you dable in them, the domestic crowd likes to make fun of everything, i mean if you ask a domestic person anythign about imports, you dont even get an answer, and they will even fight about ford vs. chevy?? wow, the dsm people are nice. anyway enought sentiment

perhaps i have changed my plan, i have decident to get the gredy IC pipe kit and a type s BOV. also a TURBO XS boost controller at soem point. Does anyone have any qualms with this? It seems like a pretty fail safe plan to me. Thanks for all the help

I have the injen intake and greddy type s BOV and it works well. Don't vent to the atmosphere though, I did and the car ran crappy.. Ended up trading my intake for the one with the recirculating port.. Runs way better.. Just my .02

This thread makes me say

Most people don't like the Greddy because they hook it up wrong, they don't put a boost source on the bottom port and then run around town like that on 15psi complaining about how bad it flutters. Listen people... no. Nevermind, I have nothing nice to say.
