4g63/420A Swap?

OK eggheads, break out the coffee. The question is: is it possible to swap in a 4g63 into a 98 ESi?? Does anyone know if this has ever been done before? What would be involved other than the obvious (oil, vaccuum lines, ECU, etc)???

Would my course of action be better if I built up and boosted my 420A with a GREEN custom Turbo setup??

Please share any opinions/thoughts you might have as to any possible solutions to my question.

well considering the tranny is on the pass side on a 4g63 and driver on a 420a it wouldn't be worth the work. Custom welding for new motor mounts would be in place. grab some eagles and forged pistons on ur 420a and boost away.
 
too much work would go into the swap.. you would need axels, frame work, and TONS of electrical work to be done.

I had an RS and i explored these options once also.. I would go with building up the 420 and turbo'ing it. OR you could drop a 2.4L stratus motor into it...

But instead of going through that hassle i just bought a 90 TSI
 
one of my friends has an avenger with the 420a, he put a super 16g on and had the motor fully built, on 6 psi its almost as quick as my car on 17 psi, i think hes waiting for something before he turns the boost up but i cant remember what, he got lucky though, he sent hks some mail for a sponsorship and they didnt believe he really had a turbo avenger, so he sent them detailed pics and specs and they gave him a sponsorship, the price he gets things from hks for now is crazy
 
The search button is your friend. This question has been asked several thousand times.

The answer is that it's less expensive to buy a turbo'd DSM than it is to convert a non-turbo'd one to 4g63. There are turbo kits for 420Aa, but you're better off to buy an already turbo'd car.

So don't try to put a 4g63 in your N/T.
 
Yeah. You can keep the coffee. Sell the ESI, or save for a Hahn turbo kit. A tip on selling the Talon: bolt on a mad tyte blitz kit and park it in front of the local HS, the rest will fall into place.

hahahahah:) I dont know if I want to sell it just yet, and I care too much about to see it go to waste at the hands of some young punkass highschooler:barf:

I want to go with a custom Turbo setup, and Im pretty sure I wouldnt do a swap, because it would probably cost ALOT more than the boost kit, IMO. Im gonna search for some good linx on the subject of boosting the 420A.

Please post any linx you all know of regarding a custom turbo setup:dsm:

Hahn makes the best turbo kit around for a 420A, by FAR. I wouldn't touch anything else if turboing the 420A is what you want to do.

On the other hand, I still recommend buying a turbo'd DSM to begin with over turboing a 420A.

i second the recomendation for the hann racecraft turbo kit, im pretty sure their super 16g kit is whats on that turbo 420a avenger my friend has, he in good with hahn racecraft, i dont know if they actually sponsor him or not but they might
his car it runs its ass off with the turbo on it, and only on 6 psi, but it has a built motor, but still only 6 psi, i think it might be injector hes waiting to get to turn the boost up, it had the stock exhaust when he first got the turbo puit on and it still was fast as hell
