I just want to hear from those of you who have greddy fmic's. I bought my 2g w/ a small greddy fmic and all the fins are all smashed up. The intercooler is almost 3 years old and is pretty beat up. I want to replace it w/ a big greddy fmic but am afraid the fins are going to get all smashed up because they are delicate. I don't want to put a screen in front of it cuz I don't think that looks that good. Should I get a spearco instead?

Spearco is about the most durable FMIC core... but even they dent easy... it's just the nature of the thin fins... the tubes on the spearco are much more durable though. I can't really say that mine has very many bent fins either now that I look at it.

Ken,

Can you make a 2g kit that uses a similar size core (maybe 2-120?) as the greddy but has short routed piping? You showed me a pic of your 2g kit that uses the 2-216 core, but that requires cutting the chassis and relocates the coolant overflow reservior. I like this style of piping that was off Loren Jacobs car. http://www.lorenjacobs.com/slowdsm/images/fmic1.jpg. I just want a smaller core that shows the end tanks a little in the mouth like the greddy.

i was getting ready to make a post about the 2-120 glad i decided to 'search' first hehe.

anyways i also am interested in a 2-120 for a 2G -- does IRC (or anyone, i.e. RnR, DSMotorsport) make a short route piping kit for this street core, for a 2G DSM?

interested in pics of this core on a 97-99 eclipse also....

They make a special comb that is used on radiators. Theoretically this should also work on the IC. I've never seen one for sale, contact a radiator shop for details.

I've had my spearco for a couple months now and I still have 0 bent fins.. I've heard a lot about the GReddy fmics and fin bending, I've also heard the same about the Apex units.. Any input on that?

FMIC fins are much further apart than radiator fins so the "comb" that you mentioned won't work. The best way that we've found is to take 2 small flatblade screwdrivers & do them one at a time.

Perhaps they make one for it? I would not think they would leave you without a way to maintain it.

just make a grill, yes i had 2 dings on it my first week, made a grill for free...my shop guy had a huge piece of metal mesh, just cut appropiately and use industrial hot glue...its been on there for a month or so now and its holdin good and no dings at all :)
