ok heres the deal,I have a mechanical auto meter oil press gauge with npt tubing (the hard plastic) and tried to install it in place of the factory oil pressure sending unit and the fitting size is wacked so I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these with the greddy oil filter adapter that goes in between the block and the filter and has two spots for gauges one for press and one for temp, any who is this an acurrate location to get these signals,or is there a cheaper way like a factory spot that i dont know about...also does the b&m fuek press gauge and regulator thing have to use that gauge or can you put a sending unit in there for an in cabin gauge..any help is greatly appreciated later corey.

I dont have on einstalled on my car but I would put one in the head if I did. When I installed my turbo with the ss feed line, i removed and plugged the old feed line from teh head to the turbo, hich is an excellent plce to tap as it is probably the lowest pressure at that location. There is a spot on the stock filter housong that you can t into or tap a new one. IMO, I would tap it at the head for a gauge. Im not sure if 2g are exactly the same so maybe someone else will clear this up for u...

someone told me to do that to but wasnt sure where I looked at it and do I just take out one of those allen screws and then put the line in there but I dunno later corey..

that appears to be where to tap an oil line for a larger turbo but I might be able to use that..thanks corey..oh yeah any info on the fuel press thing would help too..see top post

Well like I said you could tp there...but the head is alower reading, which is better knowledge than having it higher. I would always want to know the lowest reading. Its like tapping the right runner for an egt...same difference. Im not sure what you mean about the allen thing. What size tap did the guge come with? If its the right size to fit in the head, then all you ll have to do is get a t bar, so you can still use the oil supply line( uness you by an aftermarket(which you should) and replace the stock one). The line comes out of the passenger side closest to you(looking at it) and runs out then down to the center section of the turbo. The link provided shows the picture. I think the easiest and most efficient, would be to buy an ss oil supply line (from rre or fp) install that on the turbo, then you wont need a t for the gauge, just tap into the head where the old line was and there you go!!!

I don't plan on doing turbo upgrade soon and from what you are saying that involves a turbo upgrade, the allen thing is on the head right above the heat shield on the head there is an allen bolt or screw going into the head I dont know if its a place where oil press even is someone just pointed that out to me one day and said it might work..laters

You dont have to upgrade the turbo to use an ss line. What I was sayng is its good idea cause you can use it on the stock turbo or an upgraded turbo. Also when you use the ss line, it is fed from the filter housing which always has a greater pressure than the head tap, so it benifits cooling issues as well as giving you a place to tap your gauge...

yeah that sounds like a good idea but I think that greddy piece would be easier..later

You reply very fast...jesus man! I guess the greddy relocation would be good, especially if you ever get a big downpipe (some of you know what Im talking about), but the greddy still wont read what it would at the head. My point still stands pretty well, i think. By buying the line you save hundred bucks from the relocation kit, have a goos place to tap for your gauge, get a pretty line for your turbo, and really dont have any downfalls. It is a #@%#@%#@%#@%#@% to change your oil filter with a 3" downpipe but, when its gotta be done its gotta be done, y know.

I am not buying the relocation kit,I am buying the block adaptor it just goes in between the block and the filter and has the 2 gauge ports and is only 50 bucks, yes I understand your point on the whole pressure in the head versus oil filter location but how difficult is it to change that line and why have I not read about it anywhere else..laters

-You don't need an turbo upgrade to this mod, it's always better to increase the feeding oil pressure to the turbo, I didn't get the RRE line, I use brass couple from home depot to tap into the oil filter bracket, the line pass through a small oil cooler b4 entering the turbo. I'm also in the process of getting rid of the OEM coolant oil cooler with an air-cool cooler, if you add that Greddy adaptor onto the oil filter, I wounder if you have enought room if you later decided to go for a bigger down pipe. the location that Candela's talking about is by the left end of the exhaust cam of the head.

It is very easy to change the line. Im not sure hwy anyone lese hasnt posted on this yet and backed me, give it a while and someone else will. That link above shows how easy it is to install the line. Took me about 15 min. Since you would be installin the gauge as well, you would need to have the tap for the gauge the same size as the head tap. If you do, then the install would tke no longer that 20min for a beginner, seriously. Ill stop trying to convince yo uthough. Good luck man, later

I actually have a 3" downpipe right now and had 0 troubles changing my filter..and what you just explained is far more complex than I need to do(I know I could)but I just want my oil press gauge to work for now my factory gauge is broke..laters

I cant stop posting...you keep making points that I want to reply too:laugh: AAre u sure your stock is broken, they are really retarded from the factory. Well you just proved to me that you cn do it, sinc you already have a 3" downpipe, you are set. I assure you it is so fuggin easy to do. Just as easy as changing your oil!!! Go to the rre website and they have a page on how to do it in a 2g. Its only 1 page long becaust its soooooo easy. It really would be idel to do it. As long as you have enough oil in your car, you should strees about how long the gauge is bokn for(if it really is broken...) Alright now Im really done... I think:p

yes the gauge really is broken, all i need is a new instrument cluster its the piece in there that broke, not the sending unit or anything like that..and if ti really is that eay to change that line and put the gauge where the old oil line came out of then i'll just do that..thanks for the help,oh and by the way does anyone know about my fuel pressure question in the first post...laters
