ok i just used taboo's diagram for the emissions crap and ripped out a whole bunch of vacuum lines but i was looking at the canister down against the firewall under the battery, that things huge and it has 2 lines attached to it and one looks like a hard line like a brake line running back behind the engine, i would like to rip that whole thing out but i dont know where those lines run to

anyone ripped it out before

well i looked at it, it goes into a hard line that runs along the bottom of the firewall right underneath the hard line from the fuel filter, and it looks like it goes into the same little rail on the bottom drivers side as some other fuel lines? i dont know exactly what the charcoal canister does, is it hooked in with the fuel system?

In a way, yes. It captures the gas fumes from the gas tank (instead of venting) and releases them to the intake to be burn at later time.

well theres a soft rubber line that runs down under the firewall, that probably goes to the fuel tank, then there is the hard line that goes directly over to where the fuel lines meet, so that would be pressurized it looks like, then the other tube that connects to the intake came off the unit attached to the canister thats right above it

i guess i should just put a little filter on the end of the tube from the gas tank, and cap off the hard line and rip it out, someone has to have done this

well i have a 1g, and i used taboo's diagram to remove vacuum lines, but it says nothing about removing the charcoal canister

hey man, i did mine a while back and i cant remember exactly what lines are what, but i pulled everything out. their is one line that runs back to the fuel tank for venting, mine is open and i cant smell fumes at all. i suppose you could cap or filter it but its a small line, id say little chance of anything of great danger getting in there. but rest assured you can pull everyting out and have know problems, granted you plugged all direct vaccum sources that taboo shows. i lost no vacuum( according to my boost guage) so its safe to assume all is well.

ok ill do it tomorrow, i was only worried about the hard line that runs over and ties in with the rest of the fuel system

only if they pop ur hood or smell fumes, it is very illegal in terms of emmisions but i dont think it will throw any codes and u wouldnt be able to tell the difference just from testing the exhaust
