Can boost leaks cause crazy slow spoolup?

Ok, I leak tested and I had a huge leak at the j-pipe/comp housing and also one at the TB. Went and got some new gaskets, solved the leak at the j-pipe other than the fact that its now leaking out of a couple pinholes in the weld . TB leak is still there. In third gear I'm probly not seeing full boost of 16 psi on my b16g until about 4500. Could boost leaks be causing ALL of this???

Fix the leaks and see if it gets better. 4500 seems a bit extreme for a J-pipe leak, but you never know. Let me guess, its an RRE J-pipe? Just use JB Weld and it'll fix it up.

J-pipe and TB . Nah, the j-pipe is from Slowboy. I guess I'll go at it again tomorrow. I don't even hit full boost in 1st.

do you have any exhaust leaks, thats what my problem was with my t-28

How should i go about checking for exhaust leaks?? That's the other thing I was thinking though. A pre-turbo exhaust leak would cause real slow spool.

mine was coming out from inbetween the manifold and the turbo, that gasket, i really odnt know, check your egt tap, and other things and the exhuase housing, take off the heat shields and check...

I also have this huge leak between the Jpipe and the turbo outlet.
Where did you get a new gasket for it? I'm having a hard time finding
the right gasket. The old one I had on there was a metal one that had
cracked. The Jpipe is also leaking from the welds by the flange.

I used JB weld on the pipe, and made a gasket out of gasket material.
Put it on with some RTV and thought it'd fix everything, but I think
it still leaks

Go to the dealership and order a brand new 1g turbo to j-pipe gasket. That's what I did and it doesn't leak any more.
