i was considering doing a couple preventative tranny measures before i put my motor and everything back in the car...but im not sure if i should just wait till something breaks and save the money or just do it.

ive already got a taboo clutch fork, but i was also going to order a TRE spool and some tre spec shift forks as well. this would leave me with pretty much no money left, which kind of worries me with a new buildup (always seems to be unforseen costs)

the car is basically a track car with minimul street driving...and looking to make in the range of 450whp right now, and over 500 in the future...and using stock rev limit for now..also im using a rps 6puck sprung hub clutch and stock flywheel

before i took everything out the clutch shifted pretty smooth (thats with stock fluid) and ive got some BG to put in it once its back togther.

bad synco's are another thing that would worry me in the future, but they seem in good condition now and with the syncroshift, i figure i might be able to get away without upgrading them for awhile.

so if i upgrade the shift forks and get a spool am i going to be fairly safe as far as not breaking stuff? what else would be likely to break?

i know a similar topic has prolly been covered, but ide like some input on my personal situation. thanx

definitely get the tre shift forks. forget the spool. youll break alot of stuff with it. forget synchros. i bought a set and didnt even need them. just the shift forks and youll be ok.

ive heard of alot of people having problems with hard launches and the center diff breaking...and i dont really wanna spend the exta cash for the 4 spyder diff

ive got a 4bolt rear and since i wont be driving it on the streets much i figured since ill have the tranny and everything apart i might as well put one in since it eliminates the center diff busting and it will help pull better 60'

i would drop the cash on a 4 spider before i would a spool. its only a $200 difference. i looked into the spool and jon from tre said unless its a full race car and i have money to buy driveline parts go with the 4 spider. FYI

well it is basically a full race car...its totally gutted with one race seat and harness..no a/c, p/s, bumpers, ect.

what driveline parts are likely to break?...from what ive heard the front and rear diff's are pretty stout, and i dont mind having to buy axles (if one breaks ill just buy ones with lifetime warrenty so i can replace for free)..

im not gonna be on full slicks or anything either...just street tires for now and maybe dr's later down the road...the only reason i could see something breaking is if you launch really hard and dont get any wheelspin and twist the driveshaft, or get mad wheelhop and break an axle...ive also got prothane motor mounts so theres gonna be no movement in the engine so that should help with the wheel hop.

When I get my new DSM (as soon as I get my ass out of this hellhole that they call Iraq) I plan on leaving the stock tranny alone while I'm building up the engine, upgrading the turbo etc. But saving up on the side for either a new or rebuild TRE tranny (or maybe BM Tranny in jersey) But those shift forks are a must if you plan on keeping that tranny.

Is the dual syncro upgrade from TRE not worth it?
