lookin for 9s country, Nevada
ive been tuning it at 21-22 psi and it runs sooooo good. i figured its a big turbo ill crank it to 25:) well guess what:( the car breaks up after 6000 rpm REAL bad. i pulled the plugs and gapped them down to .23 and it helped, but its still there. the 22 psi pulls are perfect. no hiccups at all. my question is, would this have anything to do with the efficiency of the turbo? i was told by that the 57 trim doesnt like anything over 25-26 psi. my first thoughts (after trying to fight this all friggin day) is that ill have to buy an aftermarket ignition (crane hi6di2) because the cylinder pressure is too much for the stock system. yes, i tried new plug wires too. it definitely feels like an ignition related problem. especially since its good to go at 22 psi. any thoughts? thanks, john.

i dont know too much about this but your car was the black one at the sac-dsm meet rite? droooool

you smelling unburned fuel out of the tailpipe? o2 reading should read lean if you misfire and lean if your fuel cutting- so the only good way to tell is have someone follow you and tell you what your exaust looks/smells like.... if they're fast enough to keep up with 25 PSI that is :)

What are you logging with? What octane gas are you using at 25PSI? You may be able to tune OK on 93-94 pump at 22PSI but not 25 PSI? Maybe you're knocking real bad?

its not running lean or rich. i tune with my tmo stage 3 chip using the boost gauge ( iknow i need a logger LOL im running 118 octane for safety.

is this a joke? you tune with a boost gauge and ecu????? wow... my car does the same exact thing at 24psi... this is due to fuel cut, however, as im seeing 24! counts of knock at 6200 rpm. you need something to tune with man....

You have all that stuff and no datalogger? Can't you get a datalogger for the 1G for like a couple hundred bucks? Unlike us 2G guys who need to get a whole new ECU and DSMLink to do decent logs.

on the tmo stage three there is no fuel cut and the boost gauge shows timing advance and some other stuff. its not a boost gauge anymore. when it knocks i can see it from the timing being pulled. it works fairly well. ive been using my friends logger sometimes but i need to get my own. i have the palm pilot i just need to get the software. im also reading the plugs and they look pretty good. you can tune a car without a logger, its just not as easy:) i really think its due to my spark being blown out from all the cylinder pressure. ill ask my buddy if i can use his crane ignition for a night while his car is down. see if that solves anything.

Are you running stock springs? How much boost can you folks run before you start to float valves?

since when does boost effect valve float, its directly related to rpm not boost

i would think you should be able to run 25psi easily on racegas, ive run 25 on my 20g on 116 and had no problems, sometimes you can get a small crack in the spark plugs which doesnt make much of a difference until high boost, i had a problem, one was cracked and it was almost brand new, it would be fine at 15psi but horrible at 20 and it was only above 6k

get a logger before you blow your shit up dont think you can just crank the boost up becasue you see other people post that they do;) 25 psi feels damn good if you can run it safely on pump:thumb:

explain please. i put a fresh set of bpr7es' in and it didnt help. now im thinking about this.

interesting. ill try this if the crane doesnt work. gotta love the aftermarket ignitions..........

I'd try the $8 BR7ES troubleshoot first

haha. read above. im borrowing my friends ignition for a couple of nights. if the crane works, then ill pull it and try the spark plugs. if it doesnt i think ill shoot myself in the foot:)

actually 118. but jdm was referring to a little.... "disagreement" he and i had. all good now though:)
