Big 16 to HRC 20g

I have a quick question if anybody know's I am going to trade my Big 16g to a guy for his HRC 20g. I was wondering what do I need in order to put that turbo on my car???
 
i think as long as you have the kit you can just bolt it in. wait isnt the 20g by hrc internally gated... i have the S 16g and it has a internal wastegate. if so you may need to buy a new exhaust mainfold, and i'm not certain about the o2 housing. the best thing to do is call HRC; it's there turbo and they would know better than anyone else about what you will and will not need.
 
Ya, well the guy said that it is the 20g that doesnt need a new exhaust manifold there are 3, two require new manifols this does not. Well I know my 16g has a j-pipe. but the said that I odnt use it on the 20g do you guys know what I use.
 
right, you dont need a new exhaust manifold as long as your current set up is not externally gated cause Super turbos by HRC are all internally gated. the reason you dont need a j pipe is because there is one welded on the housing already to make for a easier install. i hope you have the mods to support a 500 hp turbo. well anyway good luck.
 
well i just got done reading your profile, looks like your lacking some parts for that 20g. you've done a good job on the bottom end build up and the head work will also help out a lot, but i didn't see any fuel upgrades. for that big turbo you going to need injectors 600cc + for sure, new fuel pump, S-AFC, i hope along with the upgraded fmic you also upgraded you i/c pipes, i didn't see a boost controler or a egt gauge. i hope you've just forgoten to update your profile because without those mods your not ready for the S 20g; you havent come close to meeting the full potentional (s/p) of your 16g.
 
yeah actually my car is at the motor shop so I am getting it ready, but anyways yeah I got some 660's, 190 lph, s-afc , Greddy probec b, and I am buying the EGT this week, but yeah they guy said that I the 20g is held by hoses and clamps do you know anything about that.
 
well yeah, i have the Super 16g. the S 16g can be converted to the S20g so i know what it looks like, but like your my car is also at the shop getting some t.l.c. i hope he didnt just go the cheap route and rige it in there. i would need to look at mine to go into detail and like i said i dont have it here, but i'll try to get back to on that during the week.
 
If I were you I wouldn't trade. Find a br20g, HRC has unbelievable lag, even the super 16g has some bad lag. HRC uses 10cm housings as opposed to the mitsu 7cm. Go with either mitsu or a garret for your next turbo. :cool:
 
10cm^2 turbine housing is HUGE for a 20g...you will have incredible lag and incredible top-end power...after it FINALLY spools. Thats probably why the guy is selling his...he wants something that can actually spool at a decent rpm. anyway - I would also wait for a different turbo...if I were you I'd look into selling the 16g and put out a few extra bucks for a 50trim
 
sorry, i forgot to mention that.

also what they said about the lag time, well it's true it does take till about 3,100 to 3,300 rpm for the trubo to spool well at least for my S 16g. the + side is even in 5th gear at 100 mph and 4,000rpms i'm boosting at 1.0 bars and with no lag at all i can hit 1.5 bars and still pull hard to 7,300 rpms.
 
I know someone with the super 20G type H which starts spooling at 5k and hits full boost at 5.5k. It does lag ALOT but when it hits it's pretty insane. I personally would go with a different turbo like buschur which also seems easier to drive and the power delivery is smoother.
