symptoms of cam position sensor malfunction???

just wondering what the symptoms of a cam angle sensor being screwed up are, cuz im having problems starting sometimes, and i was told this could be the problem...and also, can i take my steering wheel out and just slap on a first gen wheel? the first gen steering wheels are so phat! and what goes into getting a 6bolt block put in? theres a 6bolt block at the junkyard for $90, and i was planning on building it myself, and shit, but i dont know about makin it fit 2g head and 2g tranny and shit...thanks for the help!

Be leary of stuff at salvage yards, use your best judgement.
 
Agreed about the salvage yard thing.

About the cam angle sensor check to make sure oil hasnt leaked into the plug. This happened to me and I guess it confused the electrical signal and my car wouldnt start. I just cleaned it out and it was all good. Hope that helps
