Venice,
I have looked at many sources, and have found out some of the things i need, but i know im gonna forget about something, so i need to compile a complete list for this install, just keep adding to the list if some1 misses something, thanks people

RRE Jpipe and L pipe
new exhaust manifold to turbo gasket
New turbo to 02 gasket
New oil feed line gaskets
A different type of oil feed line, RRE has a nice SS one that completely replaced the pos stock hard line.
New exhaust manny gasket if you are going to remove it.
Should buy one more bolt to replace the stud from RRE for $9
1g Oil feed banjo bolt
2 new crush washers for the oil feed.
Reuse the water washers.

I think thats it.

I would port your exhaust manifold/turbo/o2 housing while you have it all off.

yea, im assuming you want to do it the 'right' way. But, i did it the poor man way.:D I installed it for free, actually. i made my own j pipe then just cut my stock LICP in the middle of the S part and added a 10'' piece of pipe. And i fabricated my own oil supply line, out of high pressure hydraulic hose and some fittings. I ported eveything put a new o2 gasket on (alread had it), slapped it all back together, works great. BUT if you can go with what 98tsi said. --forgot to mention the water pipes, just flip them around til they look close, then i bought some hose and hooked um up, really easy. later

well im gonna get the SS oil supply line from SlowBoy Racing, since RRE wont take paypal, and thats where all my car funds are so... water lines will be easy, oil return line i will just file the holes closer, and im just gonna order the gaskets from RRE. plus the turbo has the elbow already welded on it, so i wont need a j pipe. let me know if you guys have any secrets too, like how to make it go easier, or things you wish you had known before. im planning on pulling the manifold, is that the best way? any little secrets you know now that ya wish ya knew before?

I'm doing my 14b install this weekend. I just gotta figure out if I want to get oil from the head or from the stock location. And I'm doing the poor man's install :D and reusing alot of things off of the 1G we pulled it off of. I removed my GF's T25 and it took 7 hours since I didn't know what to expect, but pulling the 14b was a piece of cake since i knew the work-arounds and only took 2 hours. I wouldn't bother pulling the headers off. I personally think its easier just to unbolt the downpipe and drop it. The hardest part of the install I think is the downpipe bolts and the radiator fan  . Let us know how ur install goes.

my_gst95: A little tip here, don't pull off the radiator fans. Drain the radiator. Then, remove the top four bolts that hold the whole radiator assembly and fans together, remove the two clips that power the fans, the two coolant pipes, and the whole assembly comes right out. It gives you SO much more room to work, and you don't have to fVck with those radiator fan nuts. Also, the day before you do the install, remove the upper heat shield off of the manifold, hit it up with some PB blaster, go for a quick drive, then hit it again. All your bolts will come off very easily now. And if you plan on keeping the turbo stud, do youself a favor and move it to the front of the turbo. That makes it easier to line up when you put it back in the car.

Hooksh - Don't file the oil drain holes. It takes forever. Either re-drill them, or do yourself a favor and buy a new oil drain pipe. You can use the bolts that held the old oil supply line to the block to bolt it to the new 14b. The SS line is a good idea, but I just used the top feed in the head, as it's very easy to run. Just don't torque the top oil feed nut over 12 ft/lbs, and you're cool. Re-tapping an aluminum head is not fun. And one more thing, do a pressure test when you are finished. A boost leak on a new turbo install is kind of annoying.

Matt.

Thanks for the tip, ill start it today. You are my idle for hitting 13.6 with your mods...Thats all I want to do with this 14b and i know it'll be a bit harder since i'm FWD. Still, consistant 14.0 would be awsome on a stock 1g turbo with minimal mods...So what psi did u hit that with and i'm hoping you DONT say race gas hehe.

My advice is when romoving the oil supply line from the oil filter assembly its alot easier to do it if you cut the line then use a breaker bar to remove it. If your gonna remove stud order a new one ASAP cuz there on back order. I've been waiting for a week for the 4 exhaust manifold to turbo bolts, because i stripped all of mine :( . Only take of the manifold if your gonna port it. The turbo will come out easily with the manifold still on.

My OEM oil feed line bolt on the oil filter housing came out easily with a line wrench.

As far as the exhaust manny bolts, just soak them for 2 days with penetrating oil/lubricant. I used the walmart 78cent lubricant. Respray it on every ~4 hours. They all came look like butter.

if the turbo to mani bolts are on backorder, where can i get em at SOON? can i reuse the ones im taking off? i know its not a good idea, but if they are on backorder everywhere, where can i get em? some1 lemme know, plz, i wanna get this done next week, so let me know aSAP, peace

14b installed. i basiclly used everything off the 1G and didnt need to buy anything. What I would recommend tho is new oil return line gaskets if your using the 1G one. That thing really likes to leak. Also, if your using the 1G feed line that goes to the head, make sure u plan ahead of time and get a bolt that plugs up the oil cooler or have your bolt welded shut. I'm on a ghetto made plug using my old bolt and just smashing it closed , but its still leaking small bits. (anyone know if they sell a closed bolt that size?). All in all it was a easy swap, didnt even need to soak anything down since I got a Breaker-Bar. And yes, you can use your old bolts just as long as you haven't stripped them when removing.

you loose alot of low end spool with the 14b i've noticed...but its all thrown at once at like 4k. Keep in mind, my 14b is not ported yet so i'm sure it'll spool just as quick as a t25 when done.

good luck,

I ran that 13.6 on 104 octane race gas. Sorry. I had it set to just a little under 20 PSI. Keep in mind that I ran that in 95 degree heat with a catalytic converter and stock UICP. 14's should not be too hard with some practice. BTW, get that oil leak fixed quickly. You can get a plug for the old oil feed line from RRE, or just go the hardware store and get a bolt and some thread lock. The lower oil drain line doesn't need new gaskets, just get some hi-temp RTV from the auto parts store and use that. And porting does help the car out immensely. I reach full boost by 2600 RPM, and it starts to boost at 1900 RPM. See my mod list for details.

If your bolts are fine when you take them out go ahead and use them there's nothing wrong with that. I had to replace mine because they stripped.

well i ordered some today from RRE, hopefully they dont tell me they are backordered, but with RRE, you cant find out, they have a shitty website, but ill find out, if not, i will reuse mine. i sprayed the mani-turbo bolts and the o2 housing bolts down with some "penetrating lubricant" (that sounds dirty :D). fired it up to get it nice and hot and they smoked for a while, and then i sprayed em down again, and im gonna keep doin that for the next few days til i am ready to take em off, then they SHOULD come off easily, and hopefully they wont strip, but if they do, ill use my new ones from RRE if they have em

I just want you guys to read this link before you decide where to get your oil for your turbo from. Go down and read oil feed area.

I would not recommend getting the oil from the head, as the oil pressure is very low at operating temperatures. Good luck with your swap! :thumb:

ok you have a few options:
1. buy an install kit for way too much money.
Or

2. Acquire your own for much cheaper(I got all my parts for a little more than $50).

I will list only the things you absolutely NEED. This is what I did:
Bought a 1g j-pipe off the trader for $15.
Bought a rre braided stainless steel oil feed line(45 or 50 new?)
Bought a oil return tube gasket from the dealership.

Thats all I needed to install the 16g on my 95.
(I bought a rubber water line from schucks that is a little longer than the stock one so I wouldnt have to bend the lines as much).

and some advice:
IF the turbo isnt ported right now, PORT IT. The o2 housing too. I had the turbo laying around for like a month and now I wished I ported it then, because I have to take it off again to port it(getting crazy boost creep).
