Type R is giant, and the type S can hold up to 30 psi no problem. The type R wont fit in the stock location unless you dont have a hood.

Type R is just unnessary, for almost any aplication. The reason it might not be "good" is you have to have quite a bit of boost for it to work properly.
 
actually most of that couldnt be farther from the truth, the type r is pretty big, bit nowhere near the size of the giant BOVs like the tial and the turbonetics godzilla, and ur right, it wolnt clear the hood of a 2g unless u get a custom UICP with the flange on the side of bottom like on a 1g, it will fit on a 1g without any problem
and it has nothing to do with psi, its about how much air ur turbo is flowing, if u have a frank 5 a type r will be much better then a type s but if ur running stock turbo is wolnt work any better then a type s(but will work just as well), and the type r is available with 2 different springs, 1 for up to about 15 psi(it will work fine below 15 psi and will be ok up to about 20) the other stiffer spring is for high boost aplications(arond 18 to 35 psi), so u can buy the standard spring and use it on stock boost if u wanted to
the reason u dont see many people with it is because it doesnt fit on a 2g without custom pipes and its really unnesicary unless ur running over 500hp, and people like the type s cause it makes cool noises, if u have ever seen a type r next to a type s the hole where the tube that recirculates into the intake goes is almost twice as big, i dont think its sound is as adustable as the type s if it can be addjusted at all
i personaly am looking into getting a ype r bov for my 93, the turbo i want is going to need it
