Hey guys,
Last night I "hacked the dump tube." I've heard good things and bad things about it so I was bored and just desided to do it. It took about 5 minutes and then another hour to wait for the welding to dry. Jumped in the car and there was literly no BOV noise at all. The only thing I heard was a very very very faint sucking noise. So I read on another thread to turn the boost up. So I turned it up to about 15psi (I'm running a 14b), I didn't want to go up any more. Same thing, sounds like crap, just that sucking noise you can barely hear. Any suggestions?

Its purpose is to help performance, not make ricey sounds.

If it still pulls and boost is still achieved then it's OK. When I had the stock t25 on my car and cut the tube and added the KN filter in sounded totally different.

Sounds like a wooosshh on spoolup and ccchhhhooosh when the BOV let the air out not a pppssstttt anymore. You don't have anything in your profile stating an aftermarket or 1g BOV, so I suggest you buy that next. Might as well get a hard UICP all the way through. www.dejontool.com has a great prices for great products. I dont personally us them but my friend does. I guess you already have a boost gauge but not in your profile either. Update it and then people wil have better way to tell you what could be going on.

WTF did you weld? as far as I know all DSMs have rubber/plastic intakes...

You aren't holding much after 11-12psi. So yeah, get that replaced.

And the way I descibed it ( I know it sounds funny and all) but is that what you are getting out of the new 'setup;) ' you have?

I just did this. Already did the 1G BOV, went to an eBay K&N copy filter (after running a K&N drop-in which was fine, and no apparent difference from the cone on the assometer). I did the Brode MAS tube chop when I put on the cone. I didn't pull the recirc tube to cut it, just removed the MAS and took to it with a hacksaw blade. Now I'm getting a pretty cool bunch of noises like midnight said, but I have to open the roof to hear it. And the assometer has a thumb up it for payoff, I think I gained 3 hp.

Thanks for the reply guys,
I think that I'm gonna upgrade to the Greddy Type S and I have intercooler pipes coming. I think that I'm kinda liking the sound that the car is making now. I was thinking about JB Welding a PVC Pipe in there maybe half the size or a little shorter then the dump tube was and see how that sounds/effects everything.
