evo III manifold vs 2nd gen manifold

The EVO manifold and 95 manifold both bolt up the same. The EVO has a slightly larger collector and outlet (just remove the seat for the turbo ring and you have a matched 7cm outlet).

That's the bulk of the difference. A lot of tuners buy them to sell unported or for the ease of porting them (less material to remove).

there is no need to port the evo manifold other than the "step" referenced above. we compared my stock evo with a ported 2nd gen mani & the evo was still bigger. why not pay the couple extra bucks & get what you want. just get the evo manifold. to fit either manifold, you have to grind down the power steering corner for clearance. other than that they bolt right up. and i have read that the evo manifold has a higher copper content & is less likely to crack than both the 1g & 2g manifold.

Once ported.. they are both the same.. there is no gain from the evo mani & therfor is not worth extra $$$.

Ported size is whatever you port both to. Each can be as large as the other after porting. With the EVO manifold, just some of the work is done for you already. You can port a 1G manifold to the same size as either one if you chose to.

As far as nickel content, they're both cast out of the same material.

Fit, is like I said, "same as a '95 manifold". On some cars it will drop right on, on others you have to grind the driver's side down to clear the p/s bracket (just like the 95 units).

Once again, having some of the porting already done for you is the only advantage of the EVO manifold.

depends.. what can you get cheaper.. a 2g manifold ported or the regular evo manifold.. that would make the decision for me.. Cuz your not going to port the evo more then it already is.. or you really dont need to that is..

i am in the same choice area right now.
not sure which one to go with

BTW merlin, i want your 87 corolla

2G Exhaust Manifold $180 Stock $220 Ported

EVO Manifold $210 Stock $250 ported

these are some prices I found, so you are saying that the 210 evo manifold is STILL bigger than the 220 ported 2g?

I cant get rid of that rolla' I love that car!! heehee

you can get the 2g mani from DSSA (josh@conicelli) for $153 if I remember right. Port it yourself cuz it's not that hard.

hehe...you do have to LOVE that corolla. Even Takaumi would be envious...you sure you don't want to sell it?

sweet trueno, so what mods u have on it? ^^; and i dont know Takumi has a class A engine in his car....
