Ok first off the tools that you will need are:

Soldering Iron
10mm Socket
Phillips Screwdriver
Brain

This was done on a 95 Eclipse FWD Turbo, im pretty sure this fits all 96 but im not sure check before you go ahead with it. and i dont even think 97up have a governer.

Disconnect your battery, make sure you have Z-rated tires, cause you dont want to die or crash.

And if this messes up your car dont blame me cause i am in no way responsible. It worked fine in mine.

First thing you need to do is remove your 2 center console peices there should only be 2 screws coverd by some little snap on plastic clips to get them out.

Now you need to get rid of the two 10mm nuts that are holding the ECu in on the drivers side. i forgot to circle the bottom nut (sorry)

Now go to the passenger side and get the one 10mm nut that is holding the other side of the ECU in, it is just under the glove box.

Pull ECU out.

Take apart the ECU case there are 4 little black screws holding on the case, screew them out and pull apart the casing.

BE SURE TO TOUCH THE CASING EVERY NOW AND THEN WHILE YOU ARE TOUCHING THE BOARD OR ELSE YOU MIGHT FRY SOMETHING.

(this is to ground the static from your fingers onto the casing)

Then unscrew the 4 gold screws holding the board onto the case.

Not a very good pic but you get the idea, my resistor was in the two bottom holes i think it may vary, but the gola is to get it so there is nothing in both.

And if you want you can just clip the resitor at both sides if you dont have a soldering iron, but then you would have to go and buy an iron and a new resistor if you would want to turn your car back to stock, which i dont see why anyone would.

Have fun :----)

heres a little better pic of where the resistor is:

there isnt one on a gsx right? because i cant get my car past 142 on the highway. the rpms are at 6 and wont go to redline. is it just my 5th gear isnt strong enough to fight the drag?

no there isnt one on the GSX, they have both resistors in the ECU.

Also the GSX's came with better rated tires then the GS-Ts, so they didnt bother to put one on. the GS-T only had tires rated up to 130-140 or something

you wont get a stock gsx past 140-145, i did 145 in my 2g tsi awd bone stock, i never tried in my 1g, too bad the speedo only goes to 145 im confident i could do 160

I didnt *find* my governer till i had sunk about 4 grand into my car, I went from a 40 punch against a vette and bounced off the limiter HARD.. i thought i blew something.
