hey guys i have a problem, well actually two.

the 1st one deals with either the tranny (man, i hope not), clutch, shifter cables, or maybe the master cylinder.

it's a little difficult to get my car in gear ( i have a act 2600 with street disk), but after about 10 to 15 min of driving it dosen't want to go into gear and i sometimes i have to force it into gear. it's fine the first few min of driving but progressively (s/p) gets worse. tranny fluid has been changed and old fluid was a little dark but clean and was not low. the peddle has a little bit of play at the top and when it becomes hard to shift i have to push it to the floor board and sometimes i feel a pop. stick also has a little bit of play. has anyone had a similar problem?... what could this be?

my second problem is that i installed my 225 fuel pump and i did the rewire. now at idle or if i turn on the a/c my gas light will come on, where you can barely see it and fade in and out until i turn off the a/c or until i take off. did i wire something wrong?

so noone has any suggestions or advice as to what it could be?

i guess i'm the only one that runs into the difficult problems; i think we're lacking in the wisemen department.

You may have rewired your fuel level warning gage, not the fuel pump supply wire.

As for the clutch, it sounds like it's not disengaging completely. Check and adjust the adjuster rod under the dash. Also check the clutch fork on the front of the tranny. Does it sit in the middle of the square hole that it goes through? Or is is offset to the passengers side? Have a friend push the clutch in while you watch the clutch fork move. Does it hit the edge of the tranny housing?

Please report back with what you find.

Thanks for your support. With our extravagant paychecks from this vaunted position, you'd think we could drive across the country to fix your car and a nice meal for you.
There's three kinds of questions I don't try to answer: vague, common, and the ones I don't have any kind of clue about.
Yours qualifies on all three: you don't mention how long you've been running this overpowered clutch, a search on this topic will make your screen explode, and without knowing how you treat your car, when this started, what you've done to fix it and how capable you are of fixing it yourself, I don't have a clue.

Some of this stuff is damnedably hard to diagnose through email. I apologize most sincerely for having disappointed you.

As for your electrical trouble, yes, it sounds like you may have messed something up. No, I can't guess what. Again, I am a failure. I'm glad I'm not Jaap, or I'd have to make a mess with a knife.

sorry wiseass i mean man. all i was trying to say is that if we had a few more wisemen it would help out this site a bit. trust me i meant no insult. you guys are greatly needed, especially by me. i've just kinda notice that when i have a problem it takes quite a bit longer to get a reply from anyone, and i have not to my knowledge been helped by a wiseman, not that it matters. there are plenty of knowledgable members that have helped me along the way like jeff (swordfish), but it would be nice if we did have a few more wisemen on this site.

i have had a 420a for 5 yrs and is my second attempt with a 4g63, and is the only one that has been causing me problems form the get go.

well, i also dont know how the car was driven; i bought it off of chris (noslipgsx) at the begining of june. as far as the clutch goes, it seems heat plays a big factor as to how soon and how much it acts up. i went for a 20 min drive tonight keeping the car under 120kpa, and it didn't act up at all. we have had some cool nights this week due to the tropical strom that hit earlier this week in La which brought us some rain and cooler temps.

come to think of it when the car is in nutral it dosen't sit in the middle; it is off centered in the middle angled twards 1st gear. i'm still thinking that engine bay temps also play a factor. i blew the o2 gasket (cause chris didn't put a flex pipe on the exhaust), so engine bay temps have been a little high. the exhaust gasses also melted my cooling fan blades which i will be fixing tomorrow. the gasket has been put back into place and i have tightened the bolts from the o2 housing to the downpipe at this time there is only a small leak and no longer sounds like a out board motor.

as for the fuel pump rewire i will closely going over those tonight. also when i put 1/2 a tank of fuel there is a strong smell of it in the cab of the car; however the carpet and under the back seat appear to be dry. something must be loose some where.
