ok i installed the MSD and the car will not start due to the MSD not turning on (LED light is not on), how ever...MSD gives you a little plug to bypass the MSD box and use your stock ignition which also lets you know if your wiring is on...i used the bypass and the car started right up

i then tested the power wire (wire is at the battery) and ground wire that are the main wires for the MSD and they are fine aswell

has anyone had any similar problems? i haven't gotten a chance to read the manual, i read DSM performances install instructions and i did everything exact...maybe a dip switch is not correct...anyone? thanks

if you hooked up power and ground properly and the light dones't come on then I would say you have a defective unit.

The rate of failure with the DIS2 is really high so this doesn't surprise me.

a friend of mine mentioned that my choice for the ground may not be a good one, i am using the same ground for the FJO (which doesn't use as much power as the MSD) i'll move the ground tomorrow...if that doesn't fix it, i'll give summit a call

what a crock!

i didn't even buy the tach adapter, i know a few guys that don't run it, now that i think about it...i have a 1995 (AEM EMS, not stock ECU though) they have 97+ cars

i also read that only 1G's need the tach adapter, could be wrong

Is this ignition system one of the best out there? I mean i know MSD makes top quality shit but you guys say this unit has a high failure rate...so would you recomend it?

I on the otherhand noticed much smoother Idle better Throttle response. It took a little work to hook it up. Most important thing is to have good connections, we're dealing with high amps here so good connections are vital. The 2 step is great. IT also allows you to use a bigger spark gap which gives you a better combustion more power.

They are flaming piles of dog crap. I went through 3 of them before finally just getting rid of it. Its nice to have a car that starts whenever I want it now, instead of randomly with a MSD.

People make 600+hp on stock ignition, so anyone that claims they need one is full of it. I've personally seen 10+ DIS-2s die. I know of one thats over a year old, and its the guys 3rd.

If you spark is blowing out, which I doubt it is, there is something else wrong. Gap your plugs tighter, or fix the tuning/issue that is causing it. My 11 second car has NO issues with stock ignition.

i am running pump gas, if i was running race gas pushing the boost i am pushing, i would have no problem either with my stock ignition, with pump gas you have to run more fuel which is why i need a bigger spark

well every car is different, i dunno what to say, the car was sputtering as if spark was blowing out up top, Dre (dre99gsx) was tunning my car and said that was it, i take his word when it comes to that because he has more hours tunning a dsm and being on a dyno then most DSMer's...when we lowered the gap of the plugs on the dyno the blowout went away, another thing telling us spark was blowing out with the bigger gap
