i want a nice MBC and was debating between the hallmans, turboxs, the joe p, and the 15 dollar one i see all the time on ebay, you know the one with three colors, yea that one. anyway, i really like the design of the turbo xs, i wonder if anybody had it and if so, does it spike? i'm almost certain that the hallmans and the joe p doesnt spike. also, what about that 15 dollar one on ebay? does anybody have that or know if its good at all? anyway, any info would be great. thanks :thumb:

I use to have the Joe P. MBC, great boost controller, never spiked, and it was easy to set it at 16psi, had it for over a year never touch it, was always at 16psi.

Now I have an electronic one.

Best manual boost controller: the one you build yourself. $10 at Home Depot, and I hit 17psi without even a quiver of the boost gauge needle. :thumb:

As long as it's not a bleeder valve (as opposed to a ball-and-spring), any manual boost controller should do the job; bleeders will vary their setting quite a bit based on temperature, altitude, etc. If it doesn't work right, it's usually either the spring (easy to replace) or the lack of a very tiny bleeder hole. Or a bad installation. ;)

TurboXS sucks, get a Hallman or a Joe P. I have had both of the later ones, and they have worked great. A friend of mine has a TurboXS and it spikes like a mofo.

i have a hallman mbc and it a decent boost controler(much nicer then the extreme mbc), i havent noticed any boost spike but i never really pay attention to it, im pretty sure its the cheapest one hallman makes(the one with the nut and bolt, not the nice one with a nob on the end)
but it really depends on what u want, if u just want a sngle boost level u can make one with parts from home depot like the other guy said for very little money, unless u want something like a dual stage mbc with a switch or the one that has 3 different boost levels(1st, 2nd, and 3rd through 5th gears) u can really use any mbc, but if ur going to spend more then $70 on an mbc get one with a clicking knob instead of one with a nut and bolt u have to loosen and turn then tighten again, not that the nut and bolt one don work well, its just a hassle to keep a wrench in ur car to adjust boost when u could get one that easily turns with no nut to loosen, and iv seen the bolt on the nut and bolt ones back themselves out and fall off the car, resulting in extremely high and uncontroable boost levels, my friends backed out and the t25 on his 96 was at 27 psi for 2 weeks untill he got a new bolt, u can imagine ow bad it sucks to not be able to go past half throtle because the boost will go over 20 psi

TurboXS HPBC here, works great. After blowing the adjustment knob off of 2 cheap ass home depot style ones, I bought this and haven't had a single problem. My friend also just picked one up and it eliminated every bit of boost creep, he had an HKS EVC before, and a Greddy before that, both with massive creep.

Yeah, I second the one from Slowboy. I've had it on my car for a while now and it works great and it's easy to dial-in.

Yea, I mean I had the Greddy T.V.V.C and it ould spike like crazy, then I switched to the HKS EVC IV and had creep, and always went into overboost, sold them and picked up the TurboXS HPBC and I HAVE NO BOOST CREEP ! And I have a Full Turbo back exhaust , I havent even ported my turbo, mani, or my o2 housing... These controllers hold strong worth every bit of money it costs too ! I suggest the TurboXS HPBC

anyone tried the joep e-mbc? i have been wanting to know how it works.

The best way to go

build it with a wingnut for the jamnut :thumb: Works great!

I would fix that immediately. I wouldn't be hard. No way I would wait 2 weeks.

Hallmans are one of the best boost controllers. The new Pro Series look really nice, not like a piece of plumbing tract got left in your engine bay, and the Hallman boost controllers have been tested well into the 8s. Fast enough for them, fast enough for you.
