Well i am finally going to be making the switch from n/t to turbo. I sold my car today and i have been talking to a guy abut buying his 92 talon tsi awd. If everything goes to plan which so far so good has been going to plan i will be buying the car off him withing a week to a week and a half.

Now onto the questions i will have some left over money for mods and i want to get a game plan laid out now so that i dont spend my money on a useless mod and end up wasting my money. Basically my main question is about my exhaust setup. I was wondering what you guys all thought about my two options. Number one would be to run stock cat back exhaust with either a 2.5 or 3 inch down pipe and an electric cutout before cat. Or if i should just go full three inch turbo back. I was thinking going with the electric cutout just because i wouldnt get harassed by cops and every ricer on the street for having the can. Also it would make daily driving more desireble because i wouldn't have to hear the noise from the exhaust. I can stand the noise i mean shit i had an hks hiper on my n/t for a year i have gotten used to it but i think with the cut out it woudl be more sleeper also just becuase i would only open it when i raced someone. that is my biggest question. Also what mods do you guys recomend i do first or what order etc.. I have been on this site for some time and have done plenty of research but i think i could get a better answer from people with experience rather than reading reviews on the gains from certain parts.

Anyhow i will post pics when i get the car. And thank you in advance for any help you guys can give. It will be much appreciated.

alright, I would go with a full 3" turbo back simply because that is what most poeple do and it seems to work-out very well. Plus, by going with a 3" you are saving your self in the future by not having to upgrade your exhaust system again. Then, you should go with a K&N filter, a hrad intake pipe, a Manual Boost Controller, a bigger fuel pump, a boost gauge and some porting. That set-up semms to get people where they want to go in a hurry.
The most important thing to remember is to have a goal in mind. What times are you planning to run? What is the purpose of the car as far as functionality? Those questions can help you organizing a more precise and ultimately more fulfiling plan.

ya my goals would be to have a low to mid 13 sec daily driver. I'm almost posotive i could do this seeing that there are people here with 11 sec daily drivers I dont want anything to crazy. As far as functionnality i would like everything to serve a purpose without getting in the way of comfort. Thanks for the help i thought no one was going to reply to this thread.

Yes yes...Thats how it starts... 13 sec, perfect daily driver... Then you spend another 2k to bring it up to around a 12 just because this guy you hate beats you buy a 0.5 . Then, the next thing you know you are cutting shit off trying to loose wieght, you have 50 k under the hood, and you can hear your muffler if you even still have one 5 miles away. LOL

This is a very addictive hobby... Not to mention exspensive$$$

^^^^^hahahaha ya that's prob what's going to happen to me. But you forgot to mention the thousands of dollars that i will be spending on rear ends and trannies. <-oh man this is going to be a long long road.

desi's setup is proven to work very well but to save some money I would go with the exhaust electric cutout I think it will give your more gains than a 3in and with the money you saved from that I suggest you get a pocketlogger and a MAFT setup the next thing being injectors if you still have some money left also plan on getting a clutch if you want some nice 60ft times btw is it a 6bolt/4bolt?

yes it is a 6bolt 4bolt. Talk about luck huh? but if my parents don't try and take the left over money i should have about 1500 to 2000 left to spend on mods after i buy the car. so im going to start deciding on what to buy now and go over everything making sure that i won't need to upgrade later when i want more power. and yes a clutch is one of the first things i am going to be getting. I'm thinking an act 2600 but people have said some bad things about them but im pretty sure the good outweighs the bad with them.

First, whats the biggest turbo ur going to run?? then base ur mods around that...but if i was going to do my car over, id do it this way, close to a grand and ur already kicking major butt with this setup

0) BOOST GAUGE
1) Timing belt, water pump and associated things: tune up (plugs, wires, oil, fluids, coolant flush and whatnot) if not done yet
2) Free mods
3) K&N filter and remove air can (HUGE GAIN in buttdyno) $50
4) brode UICP & 2.5 TB elbow (or 2g elbow) $around 140
5) Fuel Pump 255 or 190LPH $100
6) Joe P mbc $45 (crank it up to 15 or 16)
7) RnR racing 3" o2 elim turbo back exhaust $700or so
8) dieselboy homedepot intake $40

$820 not including tune up

right there ur looking at a kick ass car..add that clutch and u should be in the 13s easily with some weight reduction and race gas.

that should have u kicking butt..if ur not going to go more than 400HP get a 2.5 o2 elim DP to 3" catback..

hope this helps bro...that path right there should satisfy ur goals..

**edit** race gas probably wont even be neccessary

**ERRR..i just read Desi's post and its almost exactly like mine...LOL...shoulda read everything first...haha...pz**

thanks man, ya I'm still trying to decide what the biggest turbo i am giong to run is going to be. I mean the 14b will satisfy my needs that i have laid down already, but I know once i get there i will want more. I was thinking going with a big 16g and just adding mods as i go that way i will be able to make the power even if i don't decide to. And ya a tune up is deffinately in order. It already has new plugs, bettery, and timing belt, but i will need a new alternator and water pump<- but that is pretty much it.
