Ok so my car starts to tap a bit so i check my oil, it's a little bit low. So being i changed it about 2 weeks ago i start to wonder. I check my coolant, which is also quite low and has oil in it. Lately while ive been bangin gears at redline i would get a puff of greyish white smoke, more white than grey. Well i am guessing it would be the head gasket. What else could it be?

Also would it be a good idea to do my pistons and rods now? Anything else i should do while its out?

I would check the oil cooler mounted between the filter and oil filter housing. If you tighten the oil filter too tight you will crush the fins that allow coolent to cool the oil. Here is a link describing the piece of sh!t oil cooler. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/oilcool.html

I had this happen to me. And notice the same thing. I would not drive the car until you figure out if its the oil cooler or the head gasket. Then have it repaired ASAP. If its the oil cooler I would go to a air to liquid style, so you would not have a future problem. Plus those stock liquid oil coolers are expensive to replace brand new. If you need more info on a air cooled oil cooler let me know.

The engine may or may not be ok depending on how long this has been going on. I would also recomend flushing the engine with a product called engine flush, along with some mopar combustion chamber cleaner, and also flushing the entire coolent system to avoid problems.

Save yourself the headaches and regardless of if the water-oil cooler is broken or not go with an external oil cooler. Even if you don't break the water jacket, having an oil filter that backs out is enough of a headache.

But a lifted head is usually the culprit, no big deal. I changed a head gasket drunk and pissed off in 2.5 hours.

Hey pls give me info on replacing the old one with the air to liquid style. I just replaced my hg and i'm getting oil in my water.

You use a 90 oil filter housing, -AN fittings and lines, and an external cooler of some type (I used an OEM 90 oil cooler.)

a head gasket would give me alot more water in my oil wouldn't it? right now my oil is clear, but my water is oily. seems like it takes awhile to get any water in my oil. i also just my my hg replaced and the head machined. by the way, anyone know at what temp heads usually warp at? just a round-about figure if there even is any. thx guys
