I have just finally got my car running after about 10 years of being idle. Motor was built about 8yrs ago, put together about 2 or 3 years ago and put in. It sat till about a 2 months ago together w/o being run.
It was bored and has new pistons, rings and rods. I lubed up the motor knowing it might sit for a while. I have it running pretty good and have put about 25 miles on it just puttin around the neighborhood and have let it run in the driveway revvin it a little to work out the idle surge.
It seems to smoke quit a bit when it's revved then hardly at idle. Is the normal for a fresh motor? I was told I might have to wait for the rings to seat before it starts going away is this true? Any input from experienced builders would be great. BTW it's a 1G Tsi (91).
