Im shopping for a new cat back for my 95 talon. I was going to get the greddy evo but then I heard what it sounds like without a cat and it changed my mind. Now I have read numerious posts on exhaust and everyone recommends the apexi n1. Why? Doesnt it taper down to 2.5 before the canister? I will be getting the RnR o2 eliminator dp with internal dump and then running a straight pipe. What would you guys recommend? I dont want a super loud exhaust but I know going with a 3 inch turbo back is going to be louder than stock. Please help:dsm:

Thermal Research and Development. I think it's the best sounding exhaust for the eclipse. I've got one; love it. And all of my other eclipse friends wishes they got it too.

Any exhaust will be a lot louder than stock, especailly if you run a straight pipe.

I too have a thermal exhaust and agree with blk 99gst. Its sounds great and i have received numerous compliments about it. I had an EVO exhaust I would pick this one of it in a heart beat. I have also heard a lot of great things about the N1 as well, might be a lil louder tho.

Which Thermal system? Is it the classic system? I really like the way Eclipsinemcee's exhaust looks. Ive heard thermal systems before and they sound awsome. Let me know if its the classic system or anyother one.

Any more pics of either of your Thermal Exhausts? I saw eclipsinemcee's gallery. But I was trying to see how big the tip is on it.

The evo sounds great with a cat. At idle it sounds stock but when you get on it you can tell its aftermarket, but its not super loud at all. I was going to get this exhaust but I heard the system on a WRX with no cat and it sounded horrible. Ive changed my mind and I am considering Thermal R&D now. I just read though that if you want a 3 inch system then you have to cut the flange off for the cat and weld a piece of 3 inch pipe there. Seems like a pain in the ass but Ill do it. Just wondering, will running a 3 inch turbo back system hurt performance while I still have my t25? Im getting a big 16g in a couple months with prostreets FMIC kit but Ill be sticking with my t25 until I have the money to do both of those.

You could always go with our full 3" 02 elim turbo back. You get a better deal that way since you are buying the full turbo back. We also can add resonators to the catback to quite it down.

This is what a lot of people will have us do. They want a full 3" turbo back. but don't want it real loud since it's their daily driver. We add a coupld resonators and it helps a lot.

If you where to get our 02 elim downpipe and then pruchase a 3" catback from another vendor like Greddy or Apex then it will have a reducer in it so it will bolt up to the stock cat. You won't want this as it will just be restriction in your flow.

Yea I want to get a thermal R&D catback. Ill be running a straight pipe also.

if your so worried about sound get a 2 1/2" system. you wont have to worry about power loss with a 16g either. 3" is for the big boys in reno;)

Reno guys are wussies. Id think 3 inch would flow great with a ported 16g, am I wrong?

haha. dont be mad. 3" is great but certainly overkill for your plans. unless you intend to step up to a 20g or larger someday i would just go with the 2 1/2".

Ill look into that then. I just want to keep this car civil because its my only car right now. Im looking into another street car though, 1g awd. Then Ill build something for you reno guys to admire, hehehe just messing with you.

run some numbers then we'll be impressed. ken was the only carson guy that got props in my book. you guys need to step up and get in the game.;)

Ok lets not get this thread locked due to off topic talk. The new question is if I plan on running a ported 16g is 3" inch piping a total overkill? Also will running a FMIC like prostreet's be an overkill too?

i would think yes. but you could probably get away with it. shit dude, im only running the 14b still and i have full 3" o2 eliminator back. but i plan on stepping up to a 56 trimmed, hks cammer, magnus intake setup real soon. thats why i went with 3".

Ok if 2.5 inch piping will be adiquite for the exhaust what about my cooling? I know having a front mount this a t25/14b is an overkill. So can I get away with a sidemount or should I invest in a front mount? I think I should get a front mount when the time comes but I just want to make sure.

3" press bent is not overkill. This has become the standard for most dsm's. If your looking into madrel bent, then yes you would be just fine with 2.5". But if your smart you'll just have a local muffler shop press bend you some 3" pipe and you'll be on your way and save a sh*t load of money. Everyone like to save money, maybe even put it towards a new fmic.

Getting a press bent system from a muffler shop isn't the way to go. If you have ever looked at the work most of these places do then you would understand how many restrictive bends there are in those type of systems. It saves a little cash in the short run, but you will regret it later when you have a loud 3" system that can only hope to flow as much as nicce mandrel system. Sorry, but long, long time ago I had a muffler shop do you for me and I was never happy with it.

A 3" turbo back isn't an overkill on a turbo car. You may not need 3" , but it will always flow enough for future mods.

Thats true. Im thinking getting the rnr 2.5 o2 eliminator dp with a straight pipe, then getting the thermal because it opens from 2.5 to 3 inch at the cat. I think that should work, suggestions?

dude just save time and money and get the RnR turbo back deal.. get 2.5" with external wastegate dump(oh yea!).. itll be as silent, until you hit full boost, and flow as good or better than a 3" with internal dump...

then you can scare little kids on their mopeds!
