What is this box and lines etc hidden behind the bumper under the drivers side headlight? There are lines runing into it and back out that run across the front of the car and dissapear somewhere around the trans. Cant seem to figure out what all this crap is.

It's in the way of where my lower intercooler piping will run, I want to get rid of it.

Can anybody identify this item and let me know if I can pull it out?

I'm not 100% familiar with 2gs, but that looks like the charcoal cannister. You can remove it, but you will have a fuel smell.

The charcoal canister is under the battery. I have seen some other 95's and it was not there either. I'm gonna have to trace the lines back and figure out what the hell that thing is and what it does.

Do the 2G cars have a tranny cooler? It's all plastic couldn't see it being for that. They only use 2.5 quarts of oil in the tranny it would take much more than that if it had a cooler...

weird, i didnt know they moved it in the 2gb's

mine's underneath the battery, awaiting my removal of it whenever i get around to sticking in a new fuel filter

oh nice tires btw. $600 for all 4 is too rich for my blood

While helping a friend do his clutch recently, we thought about removing the charcoal canister and all of its crap, but decided not to because we weren't sure if it would pass emissions, does anyone know more about this?

it will pass the test, but not the visual inspection. It would be like not having a catylitic converter. Doesnt matter if it passes the test, it still fails. Soething is missing. Trust me. I am a tech in Eastern Pa, in a bad emissions area. I do a at least 6 state and emissions tests a day. If I see something missing, the car fails.

Like GSX4LIFE said you can reposition it to clear the pipes. Here is a pic of the final move and the pipe test fitted to ensure it clears. (my car is done now BTW..)
