First off, if this is too much of a newbie post, let me know and i'll re-post in the newbies forum.
I just purchased a '91 Galant VR4, and have started planning out a mods list, so i'm looking for critiques and comments, as well as answers to a few questions.
First off, the obvious stuff (such as boost/egt gauges, etc.) i'm not mentioning. Planned mods are:
Forced Performance Green Turbo - seems to be the best for my goals (low 12's/high 11's on pump gas), basically able to haul ass when necessary
Tial 40 mm external wastegate - i'm planning on running low(er) boost on the street, and only turning it up when i want to race, so the external gate seems to be a necessity for proper boost control
660cc injectors/Walbro 255 fuel pump
SAFC/AVCR
FMIC - most likely a custom setup as not too many pre-made kits exist for the GVR4
2g MAS - probably, another consideration that people suggested would be to use the MAFT to set baselines, and then fine-tune with the AFC
My questions are as follows:
-I'm planning on using an o2 eliminator/downpipe combo, more than likely a 3" setup, and mounting the wastegate off the o2 housing. Anyone have any suggestions as to which one to go with (i.e.; VP, custom, other?), also, any reasons (other than sound) to go with a dump tube or recirculate the exhaust.
-Cat-back will be 3" to match the downpipe, test-pipe in place of cat most likely, any other suggestions?
-What exhaust manifolds would be suggested...just get 2g ported manifolds?
