will SOHC 4g64 gallant motor bolt up to 92 Eclipse GS?

ok i have a shot at a 1992 eagle talon with an automatic tranny and a blown motor, there is a 90 somethng gallant at the salvage yard with a good SOHC 4g64 in it, could i drop the 4g64 right into the talon with no modification or would it be impossable, im looking for little or no modification if i have to put a new motor in it, and i think the SOHC would be different, a lil more HP than a non turbo 4g63 and, idk the motor is there and i will swap if its possable
 
You could drop the 4G64 block in relatively easily and stick your 4G63 head on top relatively easily and have a nice NT motor.
 
wel the head is shot, alon with the bottom end (high speed and overload) and i just want to drop the SOHC 4g64 in it, is it possable to do just that?
 
I suppose, but I don't know why you would do that. Just grab a 4G63 head and slap it on the block, and have a nice NT motor.
 
then i have to buy gaskets and all that bs and all i want to do is an engine swap, has anyone done this?
 
99 GST, I'm sorry this will not work. The 94-98 2.4L SOHC's are just like the 2nd gen 2.0, there is no where to bolt a front motor mount to the block. So in a 1G you would have a real nightmare trying to figure out what to do about a front motor mount. These later 2.4's are for 2G guys, because the front and rear motor mounts are on the tranny not the block like the 1G.

I've done my research on this 2.4L thing, here is some helpful advice on what engine comes in what car and year.

6 Bolt 2.4L 4G64 and G4CS
4G64 SOHC, Galant, 85-87 Use in a 1G or 2G (6 Bolt swap)
G4CS SOHC, Sonata, 89-91 Use in a 1G or 2G (6 Bolt swap)
There are other 4G64's out there but not with the correct 12 and 1/4 inch bell housing bolt spacing.
Must change the pistons to run DOHC head on these.
The 4G64 galant block has a spot for the knock sensor just like the 2.0, but G4CS Sonata block does not. Have to move the knock sensor a few inches where there is an open hole.

7 Bolt
4G64 SOHC, Galant 94-98
4G64 DOHC (very rare) 94 only
Direct fit into a 2G car, and a real nightmare trying to make it fit in a 1G car.
 
thanx, looks like im stuck with a 4g63, will the SOHC cylinder head off a 4g64 work on a 4g63 block? i have a block and the head is good on the gallant, i guess if i had to get gaskets it isnt a whole lot, i looked at prices today
 
Nope, the head off the galant has different oil drain back holes, I think there is 5 more than the 63 head. I would bolt up to the block but it would drain oil to the outside of the block instead of back into the crankcase.
