Should I port my 14b Is it worth it??

How much of a power gain would I get (if any) if I have my 14b ported? It has 40k on it and is in great shape with no play at all.

Yeah really, I wanna hear an anser to this also. I am currently working on porting out a spare 14b that I have. I opened up the O2 housing A LOT, the exhaust housing, wastegate outlet, blast zone, the compressor housing, and I am in the process of polishing the compressor housing.

Considering there are guys a HAIR away from 11's on the 14B....

Keep it for a while. Do other mods, get all you can out of the 14B. You'll be ahead when you get the 16G/20G.

I can't stand seeing guys with a 16G and nothing else...

Its not so much that you will gain power from porting, you are just going to reduce restriction and make better spool time. I would say wait untill you get a bigger turbo, then port that out and throw it on. And make sure if you port your turbo, you also port the manifold.

By the way, the guys who run the low 14b times weigh in around 2700lbs, so please dont let the whole 14b can run almost 11's fool you as these guys weigh in close to 500lbs less than a stock 1g. That obviously is a HUGE difference, and if you are looking for a street car just wont happen.

I dont see what porting will hurt if you do it yourself. Porting will decrease spool up time and I definately noticed a few hundred rpm drop when I ported my small 16g. I only ported the 16g an the O2 housing, and never touched the exhaust manifold. I really should get the mani ported though.

Thanks for the input, I think I will keep my 14b stock with no porting, until I burn it up and will have to buy a 16g and then have the 16g ported,as a mater of fact I think I will turn up my boost today and speed up the process, I have been looking on ebay lately for a small 16g, if anyone has a deal on one, I would like to know,,,Thanks a Lot
