help!!! cant get clutch-cut wire to work!!!

this is the first thread i have started, i can normally find awnsers searching th board, no luck so here it goes....i ordered the mitsubishi specialties stage 3 eprom( the one jdmawd was referring to on ebay), with the eprom comes the clutch-cut wire for the stutter-box option. insalling the zif sochet and eprom was a breeze, went so well we replaced the capaciters as well!!! put ecu back in the car and ran the clutch-cut wire to the switch. when i first hooked it up to the switch i used the lower switch, the one that shuts off cruise control if you push the clutch in. well the stutter-box worked awesome when the clutch was out!!! ooopps. i found the correct switch up top and hooked it up the same way( spliced into green wire) and i get nothing.....no stutter. i rechecked all solder points and everything is good. to make sure the wire wasnt screwed up i rehooked it up to the lower switch and it works perfect. what the hell am i missing??????? it looks like the same switch top and bottom, why does one work and one not?? i even went as far as hooking it up to the black wire just in case wires where in wrong location??? im lost, please throw any ideas you can think of my way

Ever think of contacting the vendor and asking them what's wrong? They sold you the unit, they should be able to offer customer support.

Make sure there is a diode in the clutch cut wire and that the diode is facing the right way.

i just put it in tonight so i was jjust checking to see if any one had any ideas. yes it has a diode in it but its only a two leg not like the tmo threeleg wire. as for direction what way should it be?? towards the ecu, so it can read the signal?? thanks for the idea man!!

Two legs meaning there's only 2 ends of wires? You should have a total of 3 spots where a wire needs to be connected. 1 is at th ECU, while the other 2 aer spliced into the clutch wire (should be green/black if I recall correctly).

yes only two ends, one to ecu, the other they want spliced into the green/black wire, when i checked tmo's website for conformation of wire color and instalation( i like to check at least 2 soures before hacking!!) i notoced they had a three leg wire. i may need to make one of those i guess???? do you know how or somewhere with instructions?? i appreciate your help.

I think there are a couple people on the board with the Mitsu. Spec. chip,I wonder if they have the three leg wire.I don't think it would be that hard to make If we knew how the third leg was hooked up under the heat shrink.

the mitsu chip came with a 3 "leg" wire but no diode. you need to get a diode & install it in the wire correctly. i have a diagram somewhere, i will have to find it though. for all that need it, pm me & i will send it to ya as soon as i find it

Why dont you guys email Mitsu specialties and tell them their Diode is the wrong kind. They advertise the stutterbox, if it doesnt work with what they provide, they should either give you a full refund or make it right IMO.
