i blew my engine, so i figure wihile its out, why not spend an assload of cash, and build it right.. here goes

Already have:

TD05 16G (Standard, not Big)
Hard Lower Intercooler pipe
1G BOV w/ Custom Aluminum Flange
Translab Shift Kit (not installed, engine belw after turbo install)

Looking to do:

Head:

Nitrate Coated Valves
Bornze Valve Guides
Crower Titanium Retainers & Crower Springs
Stock Cams (for now)
Cometic Metal Headgasket
ARP Head Studs

Bottom end:
Weisco Pistons and Rings (9:1 or 8.5:1??? i have 95 oct. available here at a reasonable price)
Eagle Rods
B/S Elim.
Celvite 77 Rod and Main Bearings
ARP Rod Bolts (come with the pistons)
Mitsu OEM Crank Fasteners
Of Course new gaskets all the way around

i also plan to port the exhaust mani to 7CM

within 2 months, i should have 550cc injectors, AFC, and 255lph pump, as my fuel system is stock right now

ive been thinking of a stage III chip as well, but will the auto take advantege of the higher 8500 RPM redline?

im looking at about $2500 for this setup including a new oil pump..

should i replace the oil pump if it looks good? the car has 138,000 on it.

thanks

95 Talon TSi AWD A/T

upped compression might be cool, but i would just put stock internals back in. building a 4g63t completely defeats the entire purpose of getting a 4g63t.

well, i thought about the 95 pistons, 1g Big rods, but for the money id spend on that, another $200, i have a full forged setup ready for 600HP

and i figure whil im there, i might as well upgrade all thats in there so this engine will handle whatever i throw at it, i only wanna do this once, so that i why i thougt id upgrade everything, cause the next time i have the engine out, itll be to upgrade the tranny, not the engine.

but thanks for your opinion :)

yes i do, i meant doing NEW 2g pistons, rings, and the 1G big rods

How did you manage to blow your engine? Don't tell me you only have the 4 mods you mentioned in your first post. If that's the case, don't worry about building up the engine, get some more supporting mods. The stock engine can handle all the 16g can throw at and then some, given the proper mods and tuning.

im not suer what happened, the engine developed a very soft knock, that turned into a very loud one within 1 day.. i havent even tore into it yet..
i just dont see the point in "patching" a motor with 138k on it, id rater rebuild.

the cost to do an OEM build is like $1800 in parts
and the full weisco/eagle setup is $500 more..

see my point?

Crankwalked huh?
While you're at it, get a 6-bolt.

i dont mean to slam you or anything, but before you reccommend someone go out and put a 6 bolt, make sure itll work.

if you look at the subject of this post, i have a 2g AUTO
and if you didnt know, the 6-bolt swap wont work.

but thanks anyway

Fellow DSMtuners member (and local guy to me) Whipmastaflex just got done rebuilding his 7-bolt with Wiseco pistons and other internals (don't remember which rods, etc. he used). He might be a good source to ask questions, because he went through a lot to get his engine done.

ahh yes, two months of heaven. SATAN quoted me $5000 for my rebuild. i did it for $2000 with forged internals, cams, head work and port work in my backyard. if you're going to rebuild your motor and you plan on feeding it some major power in the future, go forged. all the "why rebuild a 4g63 whens it meant to hold so much HP blah blah" is nonsense when for a couple hundred $$ more you can have a fully forged rebuilt 4g63. my 4g63 didn't hold crap after i detonated a piston at stock boost on the stock turbo

forged 4g63 > stock 4g63

with that said, the wiseco/eagle is an excellent choice and will fit your budget better than a ross/crower set-up, especially since most of us could never max out the power threshold that combo holds anyway.

if you're rebuilding the motor yourself... good luck. take your time, be (very) patient and triple check everything after you go back and double check it. $2500 for that set up is achievable if you can get some good deals and shop around, but i would expect to pay more. little stupid pieces like oil jets, freeze plugs, bearings, this gasket, that seal all add up very quickly. IF possible, i would not rebuild it with stock cams if you plan on going for any aftermarket cams in the future and i would spend an assload & a half of cash and get a set of crower/web/HK$/etc

oh, and did i say goodluck? :thumb:

THANK YOU!
that is the most intelligent response i have had on this matter.

Nitrated Valves
Valve Guides
Crower- Spring and retainer kit
Cometic- Metal head gasket
ARP Head Studs
Weisco Pistons w/ Rings Deicded on 9:1
Eagle Rods
Balance Shaft Eliminator Kit
Celvite 77 Rod and Main Bearings
Boost Controller
Complete Gasket Kit
Boost Guage
Oil Pump
MBC
A/F Guage

$1900 for this
and
$447 for the machine work

Unfortuneatly, i am betting on a few hunderd more for odds and ends,
and a timing belt kit, so i wont be able to do any fuel, or cam upgrades right now.

ill just have to pay a little more later

but thank you VERY much for your advice

walbro 255HP, an a aeromotive FPR, injectores should help you alot and shouldnt be much more than $600 or so especially if you can find them from a private seller in the classifieds or what not. wouldnt waset the money on the HKS cams either as someone mentioned. brian crower camshafts are proven many times over and at more places alot cheaper ;)

good luck with the build
