San Jose,
i have a 1G FWD and i'm aiming for something large that has a good upgrade path. I have an ebc, necessary gauges, safc, injectors, o2 elim rnr exh, and just need fmic & piping... i'd like to get a turbo that would let me drive on it with what i have now (running low psi) and increase the boost as i strengthen my internals (and my wallet)...

i'm looking at a t3/t4, fp green, or maybe a gt series turbo, but my main concern is a fairly decent spool with a potential for high horsepower with supporting strengthened internals... is there anything larger than say a green that will still allow me to run off stock ecu or would i be better off saving for an aem ems then buying the turbo afterwards?

This questin is too vague. You can run any sized turbo you want off the stock ecu. Just don't expect huge #'s that the standalong guys are making. Seems the limit for 2G MAS/stock ECU is about 550whp or so. Local guy here did that with a T61. Swapped in the EMS, immediately put down 604whp.

As far as spoolup is concerned, that all depends on what you call tolerable. Green hits full boost by 4k, 60-1 by 4300, T4's by 4500. Whatever you can deal with.
