If I take the FMIC from the conquest & have the pipes changed to 2 1/2 inlet & outlet will it be worth my time . I went to the track & am getting good 60 foot times (for a slipping clutch & 2nd that want shift) but not pulling good top end, the clutch was holding in the upper gears except on the shift. Time was 12.96 - 60 1.72 - MPH 104.99. I had to turn the bottle off to get this because of the clutch . The boost was at 20 - I know to much for the stock cooler. With the nitrous I pull it back to 17 & I also run 114 or 110 fuel in the car all the time, but will the conquest cooler be worth modifying & running. Money is short at this time and the drag strip is running. I have the FMIC from the conquest already & plan to spend on the ACT 2600 street clutch before I do a good front mount. Maybe if I had left the boost at 17 it would have pulled better but some sort of front mount should help this alot. Im running the big16 & would like to get the most out of it I can. After the FMIC a set of forged slugs & a 20g or hibrid will be on the list but untill then Im going to have to push this 16.
THANX

Personally I would do the Supra sidemount over the starquest IC any day. More flow, less pressure drop.

The starquest guys here have said their ic's can flow over 1000 cfm with the right endtanks on them. I was thinking about modifying one, at least until my friend at Prochargers gets another "damaged in shipping" core in ;) The last one went on his boss's blown Hummer H2. Wicked car. ran a 13.82 at the track, impressive for how heavy it is.

1000cfm?!?

That's doubtful but I can't disprove it. It just seems that the pressure drop would be substantial.

If they really flowed 1000cfm well everyone would be using them rather than spending 1000 on all the new IC's that have come out using the new spearco cores.

Thanx for the replys,if I had a supra sidemount I would try it ,maybe one will show up. Hum h2 going 13.82 (impressive).

Starion I/C are only slightly better than 1g I/C’s. Stock 1G I/C limits are right around 12.0 with stock pipes, but people have done high 11’s on 1G I/C with modified pipes. IMHO, Starion I/C is hardly an upgrade and I would not recommend using it.

Think of this, people have been using I/C’s in DSM since mid 90’s when the only alternatives were $1300+ units from BR or Extreme and no one have been able to put down some really good numbers with them. I suppose if HAD to have a front mount I/C back then, Starion I/C could have been one way to do it. Now that you can get a “real” FMIC kit of almost half the original price, using a Starion I/C makes even less sense!

I used to challenge all of the Starion I/C lovers to show me a slip which was better than the best 1G I/C slip. No one was able counter that challenge… Which I find is strange, because I believe that it is actually slightly better, still, no-one was able to better 1G I/C time :). I would not be surprised that someone has gone slightly faster by now (4-5 years later).

And if you are going to use one, get it from 88-89 model, they used better cores than 86-87 IC’s. Of course, they are also tougher to find and usually cost more money.

I have been out there to the shop once and needed a tissue to catch all of the drool!

blowers that flow 3000+ cfm at 15 psi, a blown 350z, several top fuel cars, off-shore racing boats, a 1700 whp pump gas nova (the shops main ride--think destroked 502, 30 psi, and 200 shot of the giggle, ran a 8.92@187, again on pump gas! they pulled in off the street, stuck the 'chute on, ran down the track, and drove it back to the shop).

I have seen the H2 out on the streets picking on mustangs and camaros a couple of times. always a good laugh :)
