Resolved need help on converison 1g head 2g short block

Hi. To make a long story short, my 97 gst suffered Cranwalk, blown tranny, bunch of small things needed to be replaced, and last it got JackeD ( motor gone, radio, wing ) :cry:. After battling with the insurance company for 6 months and talking to attorneys, i decided i was going to fix it my self. Sooo
i decided to go with the evo 3 motor. but after reviewing some of the threads on the evo motor i decided not to go that route. Ok, heres my question. Can you mount a 1989-1993 1g Port & Polish Cylinder Head with stage 1 port and polish to a stock 97 short block? Yes i know a question like this has been answerd before but i couldent find the thread for it. I was thinkin about doing the 6 bolt conversion but i dont wanna change my rebuilt tranny. So Please help me with ANY info you have. My baby is sitting in the garage in need of an engine asap. thanks.:)

I was going to do the swap also. Then I found out I needed the 1G head, 1G intake manifold, 1G TB, 1G thermostate housing, and would have to relocate the crank angle sensor. I am just porting my 2G head and intake manifold to fit my 1G TB. If your going with the 6-bolt swap, then it might not be to much work for you.

Lol im not using this block. This is what my car looks like after the theft. Im planning on chaging the block to a stock short block. What parts do i need to interchange to do this conversion? Im getting the 1g intake manifold and TB so what else do i need? What Head gasket do i get 1g or 2g? Thanks for you input guys it really helps :thumb:

If you are going to do all that work you should just go with a 6-bolt. Your tranny will bolt right up to it. Its the most cost effective route for you. Use the Magnus swap instructions.

I thought you had to change to a 1g tranny to bolt up to the flywheel? Wow, so if it is possible ill order a 1g shortblock (1989-1993). Thanks for clearing things up for me. Id be lost without this site :thumb:
Btw i have Port and polished heads, cyclone intake, and TB, what else do i need? And whats your guys opinion on a T4 turbo?

As far as I know, the tranny will bolt right up...it better because I'm about to drop a 6-bolt in in 2 weeks. But I've never read anywhere that you need a 1G tranny.

Ditch the cyclone mani if its the dual runner mani.

Actually im going yet another route. Instead of the evo3 and the 6 bolt, im going to do the 4g63-4g64 conversion:D Ive read alot of post by awd92gsx and he explained how to do it. Its not very hard. Almost a "Direct Bolt on". So ill just do that instead but thanks for all you info. Im still gonna use my 1g head and im gonna order the magnus 1G Intake manifold with 60tb.
