I first posted in The Newb fourm but i didnt get much help there so ill see if i can get some here!!

Well i have about $600 bucks to just dump into the DSM and since im completly stock im not sure where to start. I was thinking the range of
1. Intake/ K&N
2. UICP
3. BOV
4.MBC
5.Gauges

Should i leave the intake side alone and open up Exhaust, this is my first FI engine ever im use to NA tuning so i would like some direction please thanks alot:D

Yep, do the intake side first, then the exhaust second. You'll see some nice power increases with the k&n and bov upgrade. Here were my first two rounds of modding:

*Upgrade Round 1 (Intake and Gauges)*
Dual A-Pillar for Gauges - $45
Autometer Phantom Boost gauge - $50
**Don't bother getting**Autometer Phantom A/F guage - $55
Injen Air Intake - $200
Dave brode UPIC - $75
1g BOV - $55
Joe P MBC - $50
Total - $530

*Upgrade Round 2 (Exhaust)*
3.0" Downpipe - $300
3.0" Test Pipe - $50
3.0" High Flow Cat - $160 (for emission testing only)
3.0" Thermal Catback System - $575
Autometer Phantom EGT Gauge - $110
Total - $1195

Thanks for the help so did my list seem to be on track?

Do you guys recomend an Air/Fuel gauge or EGT

Sorry if this is way off but does the EGT just replace teh A/F gauge. I hear that the EGT is just a more Accuret A/F?

people usually use the A/F gauge to fill the extra spot in there pod.
EGT=exhaust gas temp. totaly different from A/F
and alot more accurate

now that I think about,
there's an EGT for sale in the classifields :) :thumb:

So can someone Explain to me what an EGT will messure other then the Exhaust gas temp. Cause i though it was just a much more Accuret A/F:confused:

ok, the EGT measures how hot your exhaust is. By knowing how hot your exhaust is, you know what is going on in the cylinders. For example, at 1600* F, shit starts melting in the car, indicating detonation and timing pull. You tune for around 1500-1550 and you're doing much better. Use the EGT in conjunction with a pocketlogger to read ignition timing and knock (optimize for both) and you are good to go.

The A/F blinky light guage is useless. Heres why: the blinky guage lights up different squares when it receives different voltage signals from the o2 sensor. Now in those guages, one light might turn on from a range of .89-.92 , a range of that big could be the difference between rich and lean....Totally useless. There are some "re-tuned" A/F blinky light guages out there that light up each squar for each hundredth of a volt .90 .91 .92 etc, and they only work at WOT, while IMO these still arent good as EGT/Logger combo, its still better than a standard A/F guage.

Hope this helps.
