Swannanoa,
which is better and why? also, i heard the test pipe (maybe even the cat too) will cause the check engine light to come on and idle all screwy. is that true? does anyone have experience in this?

by the way...this will be going on a nt spyder.

On a second gen it will trip the cel, if you don't want the hassle of reinstalling a cat for emissions then get a hi flow cat. I know the buschur 3" d/p comes with a free test pipe, so you may save a few bucks there.

Personally, I saw no difference in performance whatsoever between my test pipe and 3" cat on my 2G. Only difference was that I passed emissions with the cat and was able to run race gas without damage on the test pipe. The hi flo cat I have you can basically see right through anyway. I never got a check engine light with the test pipe in either.

I never got a CEL with my 2.5 inch test pipe. Now I have 3 inch HF cat and doen't feel restrictive at all. I might get a test-pipe made just to tell the difference but the cat is very strong. If you have emissions I suggest and HF cat.

Later,

Testpipe over cat = Zero restriction over high flow, just my 02.

The testpipe will trigger CEL on 2Gs, count yourself lucky then.

in a old import tuner, when they took off the cat and put on a test pipe on a 2G GS-T, they got like 20hp at the wheels.

damn that's sweet! well i have a n/a so if i get 10hp i'd be really happy...everything counts!

With a high-flow cat at least you'll be able to pass visual inspection if you get pulled over racing or something. If you get caught with a test pipe you get a huge fine and an impounded car.

i don't think that's something to worry about much here...plus my car is low enough where you can't see underneath it.

so where is the cheapest place to get one of these test pipes? $30 on e-bay i see. and does this make your exhaust any louder? thanks again!

it should make your exhaust louder. dont know about the cheapest place but take a look at buschurracing.com
