will the EVO VIII's divided manifold fit the 90-99 4g63? what is the difference in the turbos? I read TD05 something something but I was told it wasn't any thing close to the old TD05's.

I have a '91 civc (booooo) got it for $200 leaks oil bad. I am kinda in a financial situation so I am thinking about putting a 90 fwd turbo 4G63 in. should be good performance and low $$ insurance low too. so does any one know if this has been done before? I am going to call HASport this afternoon. any way, any helpm is appreciated :dsm:

if your in a finacial situation you definitely dont want to take on something like this

just drop a b16 in it, or you could do a zc w/turbo...it will still be pretty fast and insurance will be low

yeh if money is a problem then putting a 4g63 in there is probably not the answer. I think you can get a good 6-bolt for 1500-2000 I think but then for you, you need all custom stuff and new ecu and wires and tubing redone...like heater core, and radiator, and motor mounts...it could cost 5g's

The thing is guys is I already have a 6bolt AND i can get a '90 fwd turbo that was wrecked in front for $850. light damage needs a ned radiator and stuff but the engine and wiring are fine. I will be making money soon and I am VERY mechanically inclined. And no I am not going to tell any one were this fed talon is.

850 for a wrecked 90 fwd talon isnt a the deal of the century....unless its really low mileage and the rest of the car is in mint condition..i got my 92 awd laser in almost perfect shape, with a newer motor for $350 and all it needed was a new transfer case ($100 via dsmtrader)

i still say that its going to be ALOT more work then you think it is...your gonna have to buy stand alone, all custom wiring, custom mounts for engine and tranny, custom axles..and the list will go on and on...if it was easy alot more people would be doing it

No, not stand alone I can use the factory ECU and wiring from the talon. besides I just got done rebuilding the bottomend of my 1997 GSX. of course I need custom mounts I will probabbly have to make them. I have machining experience. and I know a plave that rebuilds axles for cheap. I figure use honda hubs and the end of the axle that goes in and then the rest of the talon axle since they are beffier any way.

if you think you can do it then go for it...how do you plan on doing all the under dash wiring? surely cant use the dsm wiring for that, and the honda wont go into the dsm ecu...you must have ALOT of wiring experience and knowlage if you think you can wire it all up

not tryin to hate, just bein realistic

Hey Gritsak instead of filling up the forum saying how it wont work you let someone say something helpful. telling me it wont work on the forum just wastes space. It is possible and I will probabbly do it when I get some more time. I want to hear helpful input not "it wont work". Why not take the time you are telling me how it won't work and do something useful with it.

umm ok dude...im sure just about everyone on the forum has done a 4g63 swap in a civic so they are just waiting on the right time to put their personal experience in:rolleyes:

dont get pissed cause its not gonna be as easy as you thought, wouldnt you rather get all the input, even if its negative, upfront so you know what your getting into and can be better prepared

Please email [email protected], they might be willing to provide tech support :p LOL

Its not that its impossible man, everyone is just trying to WARN you about it. In the link at the beginning of the post we see that it has been done. But on a SHOW civic. Not to say that it isnt driveable, cause i am sure it is, however those SHOW cars generally have huge budgets to work with. I know that pretty much anythinh can be done if th price is right (As long as it will fit), i mean hell, monstermiata.com (i think thats it) will drop a supercharger 5.0l motor into a mazda miata, but its gonna cost you about 50g's. If you are on a budget we are just trying to tell you that it might be more work that you expected. Like gritsak said, what are you going to do about wiring? I was an car audio salesman/installer for almost a year, I am pretty good with wiring stuff and that is a task i would not DARE to take on. There are so many wires as it is and if you forgot to connect one or you connected something to the wrong wire, the first time you went to fire it up, all your hard work would be gone. Then you get to go buy another 4G63 and then try to figure out what you had done wrong. You also wanted to build a T28 by just buying the center cartige. I am not trying to flame you here, so please dont get me wrong, its just that swapping a 4G63 isnt a simple plug-and-play swap like a lot of B18C5 motors are. I might recommend something like that to you. That is an Integra Type-R motor and will make great power and not be hell to install. Plus you can build it to 250whp N/A and if that still isnt enough, throw a 60-1 or a green on it :)

Good luck man, and be careful!

Regards,
Brian

building up an NA is completely different than turboing a honda. and generally they run ball bearing 50 trims, never met a honda guy that had aspirations to get a turbo from FP ;D 250hp at the wheels on an allmotor honda is pretty difficult. jeff @ importbuilders did that on an LS vtec....it took a few weeks of whining to get him to explain how he did it. the motor was stroked bored ported etc as far as he could get it.....lasted long enough to dyno and run a couple times at the track....

ls vtech putting down 190-200 is easy though.

its a twin scroll manifold for a twin scroll turbo...turbo has 2 exhaust sides so it spools smoother due to no turbulance from the exhaust dropping into one area.

im sure you could find the turbo and manifold for 5 or 6 grand? it is a rally turbo...plus big 16Gs arent fun anymore why not go 6 bolt and something garret for same cost?
