So what exactly do I need to get these suckers loose? I was thinking a handy dandy pair of Vice Grips but thought I'd ask before I went cave man on them?!

Uh, how about the ARP studs are just that STUDS. They use 12 point nuts which are removed to remove the head. Thanks though?!

are they in real tight? I cant remember what the arp's look like but i think that there is a space in the middle that isnt threaded. You should grab this part with some type of pliers and twist them out. Unless you dont plan on reusing the studs then you should get the biggest pair of vice grips you have and tear those things up.

The nuts that hold the head on:
As Vanish24 (the original poster) correctly stated they are 12 point nuts and are removed with the appropriate socket wrench.

The stud itself:
If you (or whomever installed them) put them in correctly, there should be a hole on the top of the stud to accomodate an allen wrench to remove the stud itself. (I do not recall the size of said allen wrench hole.)

Hope this helps,
Joe

if its old style there wont be allen holes. if not double nut it.

put two nuts on the stud. back the bottom one flush w/ the top one, so u can put a wrench on the bottom to turn it out.

thanks everyone!! I went out and got some super size vice grips and see ya! They came out quick! Too bad a buddy was lubing the new studs and thought one of the coolant holes was a stud hole:cry: Scary moment but all is well:thumb: Got the studs in and gonna fire this thing up sometime this week. Thank God! I have had a few glitches that I hadn't forseen but I suppose thats the sacrifice you have to make in this whole love/hate car thing right? Thanks again for the help!!
