Hey guys I have found two two sensor wires that are unhooked, cannot for the life of me figure out where they go.

The first one is located by the throttle body, it's black and looks like it is one that slides onto a metal strip. I can check the wire color if need be.

:aha:

The second almost looks like a needle that is some kind of temp sensor. I found a spot that looks like it should go, but seems that it is already plugged off.

Thanks guys. This is on a 1990 tsi awd

Only problem I can tell with the car is it chooses its own idle speed, so hopefully that black sensor plug by the throttle body will help with idle.

1st one is the idle switch. Goes to throttle body.

2nd one is some EGT sensor, possibly EGR related.

Ok I have a pyrometer, this must be why it really doesnt work LOL.

Where exactly do I need to plug the sensor in for idle switch in at.

On the first pic you can see a hole by your hand. The idle switch screws in there. The pyrometer if for the EGR plugs behind the intake by the EGR.

Oh ok, somebody broke it off, I don't know how i'm going to be able to back the piece the broke off out.

Ok, thanks for your help man... I'm going to try to get the pyrometer plugged in.

The same thing happened to me with the idle switch. I recommend doing what I did, First of all the idle switch resets the MAF count when the throttle shuts. Mine was cracked so I couldn't screw the switch back in. You need to find a 2g TPS and there is an extra prong on that where you can wire in that throttle switch wire. It acts the same as the 1g switch but is wired in to the TPS.

Ok.... I might try that but to be honest with you I might get a nipple extractor to try to get the peice out that broke flush. What is the actual sensor called? I'm going to go ahead and order one and hope that I can extract the rest of the sensor out.

Its an egt sensor (exhaust gas temperature). It is usually tapped in the #1 runner as it is the leanest.
