how do i reprime the oil pump??? use a pressure gun and pump oil through the hoel the oil feed goes to or through the thing the filter attaches to???

yea we tried to do the cranking thing but we cranked it until it smelled like burning, i think our problem is that we have no oil througout the whole system because we did a turbo swap. i think we need to get oil through the pump to create a vacuum

Not in my limited experence. Unless a lot more than just the turbo got swapped, it's not much different than an oil change as far as priming the pump.

Steve

maybe the fact that it didnt have oil in it for 7 months might be the issue, we swapped out turbo, manifold, o2 sensor housing, etc

we take out the engine relay in the fuse box then crank it, is that the same thing?

I ran into this problem recently. I ended up with success by pressurizing the crankcase with 15 psi and pulling vacuum on my turbo oil supply line and then cranking. After four, 15 second runs, it worked.

how does one pressurize their crankcase? and how do you pull vacuum on your turbo??? and when you did all of this did you get oil out of the turbo or did you test it coming out of the feed or the filter? im just trying to pump oil through a new turbo if that clears up anything

bump
But does anyone else know how to create a vacuum using the oil feed point on a 2g thus increasing the crankcase pressure to around 15 psi???

Face engine...see hose coming off left side of valve cover? Apply 15 psi regulated pressure to that. Don't screw it up because you could pop every seal out of your engine (main, front, cam, etc.).

I had a turbo oil supply line plumbed in down near the filter. Pulling the stock plug and installing my braided oil line is what made me loose my prime. I hooked that up to a vacuum pump/reservoir system and pulled vacuum.

i have a 2g so there is no line coming out of there, the oil feed (if that is what you are talking about) comes down on the bottom off of the oil filter, should i pump pressure through there? and what should i use to pump the thing with it?

You need to re-read the post before you screw something up. I am not pressurizing my oil supply line--I am pressuring the crankcase, which happens to have about 5 quarts of oil in the bottom. When I put pressure on the crankcase with that oil in there, what happens? It tends to force the oil up into the oil pump intake. I am also pulling a vacuum on the oil supply line (located down near 1G oil filter when using a braided line--see RRE's site for more info) to help PULL oil through the oil pump.

YMMV. You can always start the car and it will build oil pressure within 5-10 seconds (yikes!). Or, pull your oil pump out and fill it with vaseline. That will allow it to pull oil like it is supposed to.

ooooooooh....
Im stupid sorry. Now are you talking about the hose that goes to the intake? that some people put a breather filter on?

Yes. I don't want to be mean, but you are not grasping this concept well. If you do what I have suggested and do it WRONG, you will create a ton of work for yourself. I'm not going to answer any more PM's or post about this. If you are unsure about what I'm saying, don't do it.

seriously though, are you talking about the line that comes out of the side of the valve cover that goes to the intake? or is there another one that im not seeing. I just want to get my damn car running so dont get pissy at me because i misread what you wrote. :dsm:

one last question to please answer. What did you use to put pressure into the valve cover? And what did you use to pull vacuum off of the oil feed?
